"keep it warm, and dont' jostle it." the raspy words of the sith Hermit; Raistlin Orniphicus echoed in the back of Anakin's mind as he picked up the small carrier pod. He'd gone out of his way to make a very nice carrier for this prize. it was Important.
Pressing a few buttons on the pod, the bottom lit up and whirred to life. He smiled. It was almost an incubator, and could serve as a bed for the occupant till it outgrew it. He clicked his tongue at it; the voice activation caused it to begin to follow him.
He walked from the docking bay and into the halls of the Death Star. People parted in front of him like a wave, but surprisingly not in fear. There were several greetings, welcoming Lord Vader back from his trip. Anakin nodded at them, trying to hide the smile that was threatening to tear his face apart as he approached Obi-Wan's quarters.
Opening the door without bothering to buzz or knock, he walked in, the small pod floating in quietly after him. "I'm back. I brought you something." said Anakin as he walked over to the older male, draping his arms around him.
"not another one of your pet projects, Anakin?" he asked, opening his eyes. "You may not care, but you are interrupting my meditation." he added, kissing Anakin's cheek. He chuckled and turned. or⌠tried to.
"all right. get off. what it it?" He said, attempting to throw Anakin off him. He only succeeded in falling over as Anakin shifted to move slightly before he did. He snickered as Obi-Wan tumbled in a heap of his robes.
"Oh come on, Quit messing around." Anakin said lightly, shifting to help Obi-Wan untangle himself and get up. "there." he said, twitching the others' robes so they were straight. "now then."
Anakin turned to the hovering pod, patiently waiting. He nudged it with his foot. "go on." he said to it. It beeped, sounding slightly nervous and glided over to Obi-Wan. "tell it to Open." he said quietly.
Obi-Wan eyed it, moved his hand to open it, then paused. "its not something thats going to jump out at me, is it?" he asked suspiciously.
Rolling his eyes, Anakin sighed. "would you just-"
"-alright alright! but you know, you really can't blame me for asking." Obi-Wan pointed out. He looked down at the pod. "Open." he commanded softly. A soft beep, and then the top whirred open slowly, revealing a small something coiled on a silken pillow in the bottom.
The bottom of the inside slowly began to glow softly, lighting its contents, and Obi-Wan hissed an intake of breath. "Anakin⌠you didn't.. whereâŚ" His eyes were shining as he knelt beside the pod. He reached in and scooped up the tiny Varactyl.
"She's Perfect." he breathed as he examined her gently, looking up at Anakin, who was grinning like an idiot.
"She's all yours." Anakin said. "I know how much you miss Boga. So.. I went and found a breeder." His face was flushed as Obi-Wan slowly lowered the somehow still sleeping Varactyl back into her home.
Standing up, Obi-Wan went to Anakin and hugged him tight. "Thank you." he said softly. "you don't know how much this means to me."
Chuckling, Anakin shook his head. "Oh, but I do." he said, brushing a lock of hair out of the other's eyes. "And that's why I did it."
