Andy Warhol, Sunsets, part of a collection of 632 prints of the same sunset.
If you EVER think Anthony Head is anything less than an angel then you’d best remember that I have always been a huge fan of his and we’ve always had a little contact over the years and he heard I’d come out as Trans and was having a hard time and that I was kind of sad that the photos I had from conventions with him were of me with long hair and no binder and they were all signed to “Sarah” and so he invited me to spend the day with him at his farm and he picked me up from the station and we just hung out and had lunch and he insisted on paying and took loads of photos and had them printed on photo paper the same day so he could sign them to Jay, along with other photos of him as Giles and Uther and he literally spent five hours chatting with me and got all of the pronoun stuff right every time and then he dropped me off at the station, gave me a final massive hug, waved me through the ticket barrier and insisted I message him when I got home so he knew I got back safe. I will always reblog this
still remember how revolutionary this ad felt 10 years ago
excuse me but it still feels revolutionary
Keep reblogging until it feels normal everywhere.
For context: this came out in 2011 in Australia. Same-sex marriage would not be legalized until December 2017.
It was only legalized in 8 US states (the 8th only a few months before), and wouldn’t be legalized nation-wide until 2015.
It was only legal in TEN COUNTRIES in 2011. We wouldn’t hit 20 countries until 2017. (Australia was 23rd)
As of today (April 14, 2026), I believe only 38 countries have fully legalized same-sex marriage. Out of somewhere around 200 countries in the world. That’s only ~19% of countries.
This is still revolutionary.
The post appears to be from 2016. I am reblogging this from the distant future in 2026. Where i saw the video for the first time and still cried.
(Hi, I don't know if this is the vibe for a tumblr ask but I am curious what you think!) I was wondering if there is anything you have learned from PIH or in Sierra Leone that we can implement in order to improve access or quality of care for people in the US?
Thanks!
This is a great question. There is so much the U.S. healthcare system can learn from the Sierra Leonean healthcare system.
One obvious thing that comes to mind: Healthcare systems are only good if they deliver care to everyone. With almost no money in the health budget, SL can't afford or implement a national insurance scheme, but they still have a national mandate to guarantee free healthcare to all children. This is reflected in declining (although not declining nearly fast enough) rates of child mortality, whereas in the U.S. child mortality has actually risen in the last few years in part due to gaps in care.
Another thing: Rich healthcare systems like the U.S. would do well to get more people access to care through community health workers, who live in the communities where they work. CHWs are able to check on people living with complex or chronic conditions like TB and diabetes and ensure they're able to take medicine; they can also identify high-risk pregnancies (something we don't always do a good job of in the U.S., especially among uninsured people) and refer people to clinics or hospitals when more specialized care is needed. CHWs save the healthcare system money while also making it more humane and dignified, and while it wouldn't be easy to roll out an at-scale CHW program in the U.S., pilot programs have shown a lot of promise here.

i feel like a lot of fandoms pride themselves on being gayer than the source material but have they considered being less racist and less misogynistic than the source material as well . could be revolutionary
“Tumblr age verification will not be needed,” tumblr staff states upon confirming every single blog on the site is more than 10 years old.
“If you were literate enough to be posting about Johnlock in 2015 we can kind of just assume you’re good,” staff elaborated even though we did not ask them to.
We know that Facebook is brainscorching your parents and tiktok is brainscorching your cousins, but some of you refuse to admit that you got your brain scorched here. However unlike those sites there isn't an algorithm here you just make bad choices.
That's all we ever wanted. To arrive at Hell as a result of our own dubious navigation skills instead of as the result of Satan owning all the road sign companies.
"To arrive at Hell as a result of our own dubious navigation skills instead of as the result of Satan owning all the road sign companies."
This is my favorite quote of today.
keep thinking about how I wrote in my dissertation about how every time a new form of public/social space emerges it's immediately popular with kids and teenagers who see it as a chance at freedom and then adults colonise it and kick them out. this happened with malls in the 80s and diners in the 50s and pool halls in the 20s. my dad was doing research on this trend in like 1975. and I was like "yeah so this is going to happen to the internet" and then five years later every government suddenly decided to ban kids from everywhere online. I hate being right especially when I don't even get paid for it
The creature that wants to kill you will not growl.
The function of a growl is as a warning. It is a communication that violence is available as a tool, but is not preferred. Other outcomes, besides your death, are available and should be considered.
But the creature that wants to kill you will not growl.
If your death is the goal, then growling will only serve as a delay and may result in your escape, which runs counter to the goal. There will be no growl, no warning. There will be no snarl or hiss or bluster. The creature that bares its teeth with the intent to kill only does so to bring closer its fangs to your demise.
The creature that growls does not want to kill you, but will if it must.
I advise you to appreciate the warning. You may not receive another.
#writing#I’m way more terrified of an animal looking at me the way I look at baklava than I am of growling and snarling#grace makes art
so glad i checked the tags on this one

turning point usa is kinda performance art like lets consider that the other founder died from covid in 2020.
>two people start a conservative organization to push covid conspiracies and pro-gun ideals (among other things)
>one dies of covid
>the other dies of gun violence
it’s so on the nose that it’s actually cliché
Over the last nine years, I've been trying to write a novel about love, fame, and the machine that grinds private experience into public attention. I've given up writing it many, many times. But today, I get to tell you: Hollywood, Ending--my first novel in nine years--is available for preorder now.
It's a story about big stuff--falling in love, living with trauma, navigating the relationship between the authentic self and the performed one--and writing it has often been challenging. But it's also been FUN. After The Fault in Our Stars was published, I kind of forgot how fun writing could be, and this story allowed me to work my way back to true joy in writing, and I'm so grateful for that experience and I really hope you love this book. I am so excited to share it with you.
And yes, you can preorder a signed copy now at http://hollywoodendingbook.com, because I'm signing 82,000 copies of the first printing, because I simply cannot resist the urge to sign books. Hollywood, Ending comes out on September 22nd.
