This was supposed to be posted in time for pride but unfortunately. That didn’t happen. Either way this is a big happy pride and I love you and you’re doing great to all trans and gender queer folks! I hope the premise of the art obvious but if not my intention was that Monty has burnt a portrait of a version of himself that he no longer identifies with, and has brought the spotlight over to himself as he is now. (I’m now worrying that this could be bad messaging but maybe I’m overthinking so could someone who is part of the community just confirm or deny thank you x)
This took a long time, nearly 13 hours of tracked because I couldn’t just copy from a single reference and had to make a lot of stuff up (we’re one step closer to commissions! Yippee!), but in reality a lot longer because my iPad needed frequent breaks throughout the heatwave.
Next piece will not be mincemeat (unless it gets thrown into the WIP pile) but I will be back! I have a few more ideas for pieces and it’s criminal that this is the first time I’ve drawn Alex’s face, so this is for all the Alex!Monty enjoyers and I will get back on the case of that soon.
But anyway love to you all, stay safe in the hot weather and special shout-out to anyone who writes or draws trans Monty, you are pillars of this community xx
