Along with all the academic and creative pursuits undertaken during the #covid19 #pandemic ..: #fitness #goals are seemingly back in #action with #gym s now opening across the globe. I’ve struggled to stay #motivated during this period, despite normally loving #bodyweight #workoutsathome and marathon #dogwalking ... BUT given my paranoia over the above and the warped mental image of stale acrid aromas, festering like Chernobyl’s reactor in every men’s changing room across Europe... I’m not sure whether returning to the iron temple yet is a fantastic plan. For those that can’t train indoors, believing weights and machines are essential... #cancer has kept me doing a double all-nighter (for the umpteenth time) with my ultimate legend of a #dad . He’s so #sick now and barring some basic gestures and groans, he is far from totally coherent. That said... I thought I’d try and cheer him up with a bedside #sketch / #portrait of him in his early fifties... NOT exactly his prime, but despite his apathy and contempt for fitness clubs and personal vanity, he always cut a pretty majestic figure. Suffice to say he humoured his youngest today by telling me he loved the #doodle / #drawing . In spite of adversity, I’ve turned the clock back on my #health and physicality... managed to regenerate my #art skills to within a short mile of my youth and have slowly learned to #love myself again.
