A Xu Minghao soft fic for my best babe
Note: I don’t have special characters on my laptop so I couldn’t properly mark tianshi, but it means angel in simplified Chinese.
“Babe. Wake up.” a soft voice murmured in your ear, hot breath tickling your skin and successfully pulling you out of the slumber you’d just been enjoying.
You grudgingly stretched your legs out, fluffy fleece blanket that was covering you sliding slightly off of you. A singular eye popped open, groggy from sleep, to find your smiling, fully awake boyfriend, completely dressed and looking like it wasn’t… five in the morning. You couldn’t even be mad, he was too cute.
Xu Minghao. The boy with the soft smile, far too gentle for his own good, with the soft spoken tone that held everyone captive during the rare moments he actually talked. You’d been together for the past year and a half, and each and every single day had been… more than magical. There was never a boring moment with him- whether the two of you went out to a fancy restaurant and had probably way too expensive wine, or curled up on the couch with him while he sketched, it was really never dull.
“Babe. It’s far too early,” you mumbled after pulling your phone out from under your pillow to look at the time, wincing at how bright your screen was- apparently you’d forgotten to adjust it before you went to bed. Shame.
He chuckled quietly and knelt by your bedside, propping his chin up on his folded hands so he could give you those pretty puppy eyes that he knew would instantly win you over, “I knowwww, but I wanna go exploring and take some pictures. The sun is going to be rising in an hour or two. C’mon. Please, tianshi?” and there he goes. Using his native tongue as the final blow to get what he wanted.
You heaved a rather big sigh, opening both eyes to look at him, and you knew that you were just completely done for. You really couldn’t tell him no, especially when he looked that excited. “Fine, fine, but you gotta move, baby. I need to go get dressed,” he did as you asked and you slipped off the bed, trying to ignore the fact that all of your limbs felt like absolute jelly. And what to wear? You were staying in a hotel for the week- this was a common occurence, he loved to travel to different places- and you hadn’t brought a whole lot of cute things that would also keep you warm.
Pulling open the rather big suitcase you brought along with you, you started pulling things out, careful not to let things get too messy before your hands gripped a black cold-shoulder sweater, with pink Gothic letters spelling out “Strange” on the sleeves, and it was fuzzy as all hell. A pair of slim fitting jeans, ankle boots, brushed hair, and lined eyes later, and you were completely ready to brave the cold morning. “C’mon,” grabbing your phone, room key, and wallet (knowing you were gonna drag his ass to breakfast sooner or later), and walking out of the hotel room, rubbing the tiredness from your face carefully.
Fifteen minutes later, the two of you were walking hand in hand down the sidewalk in a quiet little city, his fingers laced with yours reassuringly. In your free hand was a very warm, very sweet coffee that he got for you- he wouldn’t let you pay-, a black coffee in his, sipping at it every once in a while, a satisfied noise leaving him from how satisfying it was. “Baby?” you asked quietly, and he peered down at you curiously, raising his eyebrows in response. “Can we actually go get breakfast really quickly before we continue?” you couldn’t help the pink covering your cheeks as your tummy growled in agreement.
The cutest, tinkling laugh left him, and he squeezed your hand tightly, “of course, say no more.” and down the road he pulled you towards a quaint little sit down diner, sliding into the seat opposite of you and ordering waters for the two of you. He pulled your palm to his lips while the two of you were waiting for the waitress, gently kissing it, then your fingertips, eyes only openly briefly to flash a smile at you.
“I love you,” you murmured softly, trying not to melt at how affectionate he was- and this was how he was, often, showering in all the love he proclaimed daily you deserved.
“And I love you too.”
When the food arrived, strawberries placed neatly on top of the crepes, you carefully placed one against his lips, mirroring the smile he’d had on his face moments before. His eyes widened the slightest bit before biting into it, chuckling. And you couldn’t help but hope that moments like these would last forever.
Author’s note: I’m posting this pretty late, and it’s his birthday! Happy8Day! I hope you’re having a really good day, angel!
