Nice argument, unfortunately I have already imagined us duelling with blades in my mind palace and I have cut you down like the hapless cur that you are

Hey once you're done drinking that bottle of Safeway pinochet you should try hitting your head with it til your life departs you
If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.

Today's wasp of the day is the yellow ichneumon (Xanthopimpla punctata)!

Agent Lemondrop reporting for duty to save your cereal! As a parasitoid of various stem destroying caterpillars that target big time commercial crops like sugarcane and grains, this wasp is happy to help out at any farm. In fact, a 2025 study has discovered that they've recently been branching out to parasitizing pests of banana plants as well.
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!

Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)

1. Light candle
2. Realize you forgot to smell the candle beforehand to see if you'll like it
3. Bring lit candle directly to your nose to smell it
4.
there are corners of this website where the year is still 2013. and sometimes, on beautiful nights when the veil is thin, you can find them . if you know where to look

This is my favorite moment out of the entire Majora's Mask playthrough, I absolutely LOST it
it's 1 am for me right now. people used to say bless you when you sneezed cause they thought your soul would escape? what if someone sneezed and you said go to hell. would they just instantly descend into the Pit
