out of the four of them rattling around in that head of theirs, i think edd would be the most likely to kind of dissociate and retreat away from their shared head space. He's the leader, he's the one who everyone looks to, he's the mediator, he's the subject in which the world used to revolve around.

he's the quickest to become overwhelmed by the change in everything.

the pedestal redd!edd stands on is a lot less dizzying than the one edd prime stands on. he's also confronted a lot of the issues that go unsaid by the main gang just by virtue of being unable to ignore them, you know, sharing a brain and all. but the pedestal still feels like its there, the luxury of privacy is gone and with it the ability to deal with his own feeling without burdening his new fellow headmates, his hands are awkward and cumbersome, he can't leave. one moment a shift happens and

In the way its hard to notice an absence, they probably don't even notice it's happened until some time has past, but when they do it's almost a "need to call larry" situation. eventually they just realize that edd is just dissociating, tomatoredd explains that they just need some time to themselves, and the rest is history

CLONE DECAY

clone decay is a process that affects all clones and is the main reason for their short life spans. however, decay can be prevented through clone feeding.

clone feeding is when cells are extracted from the host (the person the clone is based on, often referred to as the source) and consumed by the clone. it does not matter how a clone is fed as long as the cells are absorbed into their body.

clones must be feed regularly, either in small amounts daily or in larger amounts once a week. clones cannot produce their own cells, as they are composed entirely by their source's cells. while regular food can be consumed, it does not prevent decay.

CLONE VARIATIONS

some clones may view themselves as completely separate beings from their source. they'll usually give themselves a new name and make themselves as different from their source as possible.

other clones may view themselves as if they are the original person, usually refusing to acknowledge that they are just a copy. this can lead to tension between a clone and their source. in extreme cases, a clone may attempt to replace their source altogether.

being like a shadow boss with like themes of how they represent the bonds the ew gang used to have gone sour, seeing the soul as a way to free themselves from a toxic nostalgia and be their own people. more independent. sparing them resigns them to their fate of always being together, but with a new light that focuses on what they currently have and admitting to enjoy their own company. fight makes them come to the conclusion that they work better together, and that maybe if they just talked... they would have had the strength to fucking get you see that they had each other.

secret bosses rejects are very fun, the problem is the angle in regards to the overall themes and questions of the chapter and how they answer them. maybe I'd make them a bit independent from the darkworlds so i could make that work, if i wanted to make that more diagetic i could make it so they act more like the egg guy mechanically

ah, doesnt matter, i could make either one work, that last idea is more to compensate for things needing to be more fleshed out. my power knows no bounds. i can imagine anything. i think if i want to have any true final thoughts on it i would need to have an idea as to how each chapter is adapted to the au however

secret bosses (#mycontinuity):

ch 1: I think torm would work best here in regards to where we are in the story, maybe not in actual character design though. Also consistent order of when I hc them to be "cloned" but not a rule I intend to keep in mind lol. This is the chapter where tord and tom would be the most antagonistic towards each other, and this is a chance to test that bond now at the end of the chapter. also in regards to integration with the chapter, the Split being a direct result of the reason why he needed to be locked away. the boss fight making them stable enough to be an item, with stats and effects that complement tord or tom if you spare or fight respectively. at the end being similarly cryptic as jevil in regards to any development.

ch 1 cont: Scribble is Seam, considering my thoughts on their dynamic it just feels right. also the fact I subscribe to a more mature version of scribble that would align with Seam's personality, it all feels very fitting for them to take up their role in the story... as more dark crystals are found, the more hope he gets that his found family will turn out alright. (i have no idea if you can sell the boss items to seam but if you do to scribble i think they just begin to hang out in the shop in the background. he wont ask for money for them he will just keep them for safe keeping until you need them back)

ch 2: stealing realistic matt for chapter 2 you are so right. also considering that chapter 2 is the most noelle!matt centeric chapter. having a secret boss that mirrors (ha) that is really fitting. Realistic matt saw "the real world" and it Changed him. He gives tord the thorn ring.... god RAHHHH. YOU SEE THE IMPLICATIONS OF THAT RIGHT??? I'm going insane. I think you are right he thinks the heart shaped object is gonna fix whatever the phone guy did to him, make him a big shot handsome again. i can see his boss fight taking a omega flowery sting to it with real pictures. I think he gives you the hint to sell him to scribble if you havent already tried in game- wait why do you have a fucking inventory full of shitty mirrors, fuck this you can pick me up at scribble's later I don't care anymore. (he otherwise tells you to just sell him to scribble, his self esteem is shot and just wants a break for a chapter. does not elaborate that he does not want to see bing, will have words to say.)

ch 3: clatt knight theory (WHY HE DRIIVNG THE BUS). if im being honest with myself i want to know what happened to dess before im sold on this but it is the FUNNIEST guy to put here and hence so he remains.

shadow mantel: I think I'd have to squeeze tomatoredd here. actually no thats a lie i would remake the entirety of chapter 3 to be the based on Spares with tenna!bing and mike!larry. the fight I already pitched is already so good in regards to the original themes of chapter 3 kind of accidentally, since i originally was basing it off of themes i would see in fanon back in the day. it would probably be a more traditional shadow boss because of that however. if something more fitting comes in chapter 5 though i think it would be a better fit for the shadow mantel to be Clord. you see the vision?

ch 4: you are so right with film buff tom, also lets me integrate my more "FB tom can just do whatever and he has no idea because he doesnt get the joke" bits. he would be more self aware here though, borrowing more gerson traits to help tom prime in his quest. break the game to do whatever! his item is Susan, or darkworld equivalent that looks fully repaired compared to Susan prime. a probably bass battle type fight.

you are so right yeah shadow mantel fight gotta be clord im sorry redd i love you so much but i can not deny its really fitting. the way whoever is "holding" the mantel taunts kris, knows more than they let on about their past, how kris centeric chapter 3. having clord represent that harsh ambition that reminds tord that, Yes, Tord has that dog in him, of blowing up every connection he ever known and hurt them where it cuts most in pursuit of power, his mirror image reminding him of some past the player can't see, or never happened but deep inside he knows he's capable of. and that it can protect his friends from the Knight.

ohhhhh i know what to do, i know what to do for tomatoredd. Pink you wonderful beast she is so full of soul parallels, so much struggle with self identity and fear of a loss of autonomy from the other person inhabiting yourself. oh im so glad i didnt jump the gun. even the chapter theme of flowers(humans) make it so easy to consider a design, playing it straight and just make them human/anime.

I do easily see the angle of what is going on here and how it relates to tomatoredd's whole identity, being 4 people who are all trying to be their own individual and self sabotaging in order to keep their personhood, and having to come to terms to being just one guy

I like the shopkeep foreshadowing, im keeping that. make their dialog airy and distracted, they talk like they're not sure of who they are, like they havent clocked that they are four minds "it's a sick sunset... no no, that doesn't sound like me, it really is beautiful." "name..? any other name just as sweet. I feel like it was.. doesn't sound right though... what is a name anyway!"

I was humming and hawing at the fight's tone, but I actually don't think i need to change anything, its goofy, its lead up is tongue and cheek, its sincere in it's message, bitchin'. tomatoredd introduces themselves with attempted wit and grace, but it quickly becomes apparent that its performative, that they are barely holding it together and quickly devolves into infighting and any agreed prior cooperation goes out the window, perhaps literally! the fight starts as their intro comes to a record scratch as they pour out a cola into the battle box in shock and horror, making the soul ourple and enraging themselves as they start to fight themselves and the fun gang.

I think how I'd change the fight is by instead of the split between mad dummy and mew mew happening after the second doki meter, they just mitosis each phase, first one into mattedd and tomtord (not the same as torm and medd but are basically their fusions) and second being all their individual selves with small parts of each other blended in (they are all frisk sized) and are all trying to fight each other (torx is trying to dodge the projectiles and strays from the fight they are having with each other) and getting weaker the longer the fight goes on.

eventually at the final attack they confront themselves, that they are just hurting themselves by fighting like this, that all of them were scared that while they were still together, that they would not be able to fully be "myself," but they also care about each other, that during the fight there has been a distinct feeling of something being missing and that they were less for it. they have a dialog similar to the mad dummy and mew mew one at the end of the fight, and are basically back to being tomatoredd again and its implied that its not fully fixed but they are at a point where they can start getting along with each other

revisiting the shop they are more coherent, "shame its all going to be gone soon, don't be like that, friend. we have now, don't we? yeah! relish the here and now." "we'll be meeting again soon. I think. I have some friends I'll need to visit first, how could we forget? mirror mirror on the wall..."
