there is a period where tomatoredd is effectively trapped in their own thoughts. arguments with themself were common, there was some times that felt like they were physically melting and a shaken soda can at the same time the way they felt trapped being forced together the way they were. everything said outside of themselves was either out of impulse or decided on committee, and even then, someone mid way though would add something extra or change their mind and cut themselves off, testing the patience of whoever they were answering.

answering, not talking to, that's an important distinction. They couldn't carry a conversation, not out of a lack of desire, necessarily, but the body is just too burdensome. wish for more mouths to talk with out of frustration and the universe starts feeling funny. unpleasant. its either trying to navigate the foreign feeling of your mouth moving on its own whilst also being very aware of the lack of barrier of that feeling being shared in your own head or just deciding its not worth the effort.

The rejects are kind enough, torm especially so, doing his best to make one sided "conversation," if you can call it that. in retrospect it's probably why they've gotten as good as they are with talking now.

(especially puzzling to the tord and tom parts of redd, they have theories, some have gotten close but not correct. the current one they've agreed on is that somehow its a double negative makes a positive situation and that's why they are so willing to help and "converse.")

there is a background worry that they share, of losing their individuality, trying to be one person. they see it in the little compromises they make to themselves. talking one at a time or seamlessly interweaving their different sentences together into something coherent. how now they even in the privacy of their own mind they seem to pick up on each other's pauses, finishing each other's thoughts without thinking about it. not needing to be themselves because they were each other.

not that I dont think he's precisely that kind of person, but I need to restrain myself. he is also other things, he contains multitudes.

they're a single organism so don't worry, its kind of a Portuguese man o' war situation.

sorry i was explaining my characterization for tomatoredd and the metaphor may have gotten away from me

The fusion felt very much like a more put together tomatoredd when he was drawn, to contrast the dysfunction that the other clone was prone to, plany of ship art between the two at the time. backstory was a dealers choice since to my memory, the og artist didnt really give too much of an explanation (and if they did, its long lost to time now), but there was common thread of red army experiment gone awry. like a proto clord theory!

I think "Paultoryk" was very much the product of its time, I don't see anything like it coming about with the current fandom environment, but I've been surprised before.

constantly thinking about that thing, when they are locked in and seamlessly are able to cooperate with themselves to get out of a jam/really get into what they are doing/feel like old times the way they are all rift off each other, and, for the moment, being themselves is more addicting than how they ever was individually.
