I love that I can say very confidently that Rebeca Andrade is the best gymnast actively competing in the world.
Like Russia is banned, but really I'd only compare Gelya, and I still think Rebe is stronger all around. The US right now without the Olympians is a quite young, inexperienced team. There's just no one out there that's as good. On everything. She has no weak event and I hope she is able to compete floor at worlds and get the all around title she deserves.

Schedule & roster 2021 Chinese Nationals
The 2021 Chinese National Championships will take place in Chengdu, Sichuan, from May 4-9. The roster is from a few weeks ago so it may still change. Most notably missing are Yin Sisi, Liu Jingxing and Zhang Di.
This competition will serve as the qualification for the National Games later this year in Xi’an, Shaanxi. The top 12 teams, top 24 all-arounders and top 8 per event will qualify. The gymnasts also need to pass the physical test, this test already took place a while ago. The format will be 6-5-4 in qualifications. The age limit is 2006, but it is allowed to have up to two 2007 gymnasts in the team. The two per province rule is back for both the all-around and the event finals. The all-around rankings will be based on both the qualifications and the all-around final score. They have also added a new challenge for a possible extra gold medal. If the all-around winner of event final winner has a higher D-score than the winner from the 2019 World Championships, they will receive an extra gold medal. For reference, these scores are: 25.0, 6.0/5.8, 6.5, 6.4, 6.7.
Gymnastics has come a long compared to that old footage, but this difference is particularly significant for black girls! Because they have never taken seriously our abilities! Just because the color of our skin is not what they want to see!

I had a flo account a few years back and deleted it because the quality of the streams was so poor- have they improved since then because I feel like this is gonna be a huge detriment to the quality of gymnastics broadcasts as well.
I have no idea if they’ve gotten any better lmao, but from complaints I’ve heard from fans of other sports as well, I’m going to guess no lmao. Every flo stream I’ve seen has been absolutely horrific. I remember the commentators being absolutely clueless as well. Like imagine forking over $30 a month to hear bad commentary of a routine you can’t even see. At least when Tim Daggett did it, it was free.
It’s such a huge barrier to accesibility to the sport as well. I think I made a post a couple years ago where I said that USAG’s pretty much only good quality was how easy they made it to watch meets, because they live streamed everything from podium training to finals for free on youtube, and even posted the full NBC broadcasts the day after they aired. They where easily the best federation when it came to meet access, because they did the same with worlds as well,and now that has all been ripped away which is a huge loss for families of gymnasts, especially of those who aren’t featured in the prime time coverage, and fans of the sport. It’s sad, because it was literally the only good thing that garbage fire of an organization has done in the last few decades lmao
A gymnast’s mom just mentioned on twitter that Flo has parent volunteers manning the cameras at some meets......... that should tell you all you need to know about the quality of streaming content lmfao

It says international rights though, from what i understand from twitter nbc is gonna keep airing WAG finals type of things in the US but MAG, quals, podium training, juniors kinda things will be behind flo's paywall in the US and everything will b3 behind the paywall for outside the US
I haven't read any articles yet, I was thinking more about like Worlds if it's put behind the paywall, cause Flo basically puts everything behind a paywall. I wonder how it's going to affect NBC//Olympic Channel app streaming?
Tbh like it's such a struggle to continue to watch USA Gymnastics to begin with after this I really just feel like I'm just giving up on the whole thing and only watching NCAA and international gymnastics, this is just ridiculous.
Ok I just read an article and you're right it says NBC will still keep their rights nationally but internationally it will be Flo so I guess fans outside the US are the ones really getting screwed over here.
USA Gymnastics is the latest sporting organization to embrace the subscription streaming model, signing a five-year deal with online broadcaster FloSports. The sports streaming service will air dozens of events each year, many of which previously went unaired.
For events airing on NBC’s platforms, FloSports will have international rights. Previously FloSports offered a range of NCAA meets and other amateur gymnastics competitions.

remember when sanne competed in event finals on beam in rio and al trautwig was like “oh is that her DIARY” and both tim and nastia were like “no shes calculating her start value, you can clearly see arithmetic happening on the paper al” and al was like “hmm i choose to believe otherwise because this fully grown ass woman having a brain in her head is inconceivable to me, DEAR DIARY I JUST WON THE OLYMPICS !!!!”
