The songs are so clearly made for each genre and character singing it specifically!!!! I got that almost immediately, like even the movie goes into the genre flipping a bit! I feel especially with how (in the movie) the vampires interacted with Michael v Sam like Michael was brought in, they were kinda mean and didnt explain ANYTHING to him but it became a good place... kinda... and thus the vampire movie aesthetic was really there! But once the Frogs and Sam got their vampire interactions, it was clear they WERE in a coming of age monster fighting movie in their and our eyes, esPECIALLY in the scene where they were fleeing through the tunnel like area, like that was similar to The Goonies in my humble opinion from the little I've seen of that movie.. and I dont think i have to explain Lucy and Max's progession...

The musical genuinely went in a great direction! But, I do see some of the dislike with the characters in specific, specifically them switching Dwayne and Marko's names or the fact that Dan (Grandpa) and Laddie, (Maybe even Nanook and -), were all killed off. Yeah yeah I get that, Laddie could for sure come back w/o issue I think(?), and I see the name switches being slightly sad to people who are fond of the characters. But, I do think Grandpa was only a comedic relief, and the dialogue in tlb musical already has so much comedy he wasn't really needed. (Yes yes... the iconic ending with the car yeah yeah dont talk to me about it Lucy deserved her moment/character growth with that badass death scene).

Also, with Lucy getting her big hero moment, her and Star just got such better characterization. It actually sucks seeing people say they dislike Star like actually. Lucy in the movie was much softer and only with a touch of badassery. She also I really think didnt have enough of a character arc at the end, even if she did seem to care with Michael more could've been done to show how fed up she was it did seem she just didnt do anything with Sam's behavior (which, yes, was apart of her character i believe it was max who told her to do something about it? Or maybe i think that was the "you dont want me to replace your dad aha!" Conversation I need to rewatch it), and she just got so much more depth with the fact they moved and Max's relationship with her. Also, Star.... STAR... Star in the movie did not have any depth? She was going somewhere with the warning Michael stuff but she just existed! She actually became a character within the musical!!! We saw more of her motives and why she thought "vampire bad" and the reason she was scared of what could happen if Michael was to go to David and his boys, (with her line of "you were supposed to be my first we see even clearer she LITERALLY thought he was finna die). And there was so much more chemistry with Starbeam but also both 95060/Moonvid and all of the vampires in general.... Also, the FROGS! Let me not forget about them. I liked how tough they were compared to Sam in the movie, but again they felt like real friends and also REAL teenagers. Alan's trans-coding, if thats how youd say it, was well played with and absolutely LOVE IT! Plus, Sam's queerness especially with Superpower is something refreshing to see and helped more with his character choices and overall representation, though the movie also has its good bits with this as well! But again, the Frog brothers acted more authentic to their age and it was clearer to see how and why them and Sam bonded, even if this was still well done in the movie!

Now, there are things I do like within the movie more, sure. One, its a classic, and has that perfect 80s feel that isnt as authentic in the musical. But duh, the musical was made in 2026 sooo. I also think that the connection between Sam and Michael was stronger in the movie, especially with the scene where Michael starts flying and Sam calls their mom. It just felt a little more believable, not much more but a bit, (even if this is contrary to my belief on the chemistry in general). Also, I liked the vampire mechanics in the movie a bit more, they felt more vicious and the way David's mind like powers or whatever were played with with the rice and noodles was also something I appreciated more. It didnt feel more believable but instead just felt, more, well, real and cool. I do still like how they played with it in the show.

All in all, BOTH ARE GOOD!! The music is well done even without the deepest lyrics ever, they played with all of the characters so amazingly the depth and chemistry is better imo, and honestly the atmosphere of the musical and everything all together is so good. But the movie also has that amazing feel to it, its a classic, and the plot was well done and played with the hierarchy of the characters and the vampire stuff amazingly. I just think neither of these should be hated!! You dont have to like the musical, but it deserves its credit, as does the movie!!

I haven’t really said anything about what’s been happening recently, mostly bc I’ve been afraid to—but I find it super upsetting how we’re now throwing around death threats (over FICTIONAL SHIPS) and extremely harmful accusations with No proof, towards someone you don’t even know.

this is the internet for christ’s sake. THIS IS. TUMBLR. FOR. CHRIST’S. SAKE. if you don’t like someone or content that they post about then use the fucking block button .or just block tags for certain things !!!! and though this is absolutely redundant for me to say because it SHOULD be internet 101 im still going to say it; if you can’t handle the fact that other people are always inevitably going to have different opinions from you and You feel the need to harass them, then maybe you should get off of tumblr. get off the internet in general . turn your phone off and go the fuck outside and Please reevaluate yourself man😭😭 because it’s actually crazy for people to be so worked up about this…it’s crazy to harass innocent people who have done nothing, and this goes for both sides of this whole situation.

expressing your own opinions is not a bad thing. this is about fictional characters from a 2015 musical where theres supercomputers in pills that can enter the brain. it is NOT that fucking serious and it never will be!! nothing will ever warrant giving death threats to a minor & calling them slurs, and nothing will ever warrant spreading absolutely heinous accusations about a person that are simply false & harmful.

bmcblr has been a safe space of mine for nearly 6 months. it means so much to me, especially because I would not have met many great people (one of whom I consider to be a very close friend of mine!), if it wasn’t for this community. it definitely got me through a lot of hard times as well, which is also part of what makes this so upsetting and also stressful for me to see happening. and so I can’t even imagine how much harder it probably is for everyone else who has been in this fandom on tumblr for way longer than me,, it’s not fair to joshie or anyone else who now feels like they’re being chased or forced out of their own fandom/safe space because of the toxic environment . that is NOT cool to do to someone, even if you don’t like them. as I said before just block and move on instead of trying to ruin his reputation😭?? I get most people in this fandom are on the younger side but jfc, do you guys have any maturity?? like At all??? do you have nothing better to do with your life? seriously get a hobby like im tired dude. we’re all tired .

while the anonymous harassment was nobody’s fault but the own perpetrator’s, I still believe that we as a fandom need to do better when it comes to pointing fingers at anyone. the bmc fandom has never been perfect . I think it’s always been toxic to some degree—but honestly, every fandom is. all im saying is that I don’t personally want to be in a fandom that thinks it’s okay to do this type of shit to people, and I don’t want to be in a fandom that’s only going to give me more anxiety than I already have on a daily basis . I use my fandoms as a safe space where I can get away from that, not be subjected to more of it.
