I think a lot of victims of sexual harassment and assault are very familiar with the fact that most people only care about what happened to you as long as they like you, and the moment they don’t, any sympathy they ever had for you evaporates. I myself had the very first person who told me to report what I went through turn against me later because she was mad at a mutual friend who also supported me, and supporting him was a way to hurt us both. She even admitted as much, that she knew he did it and that she lied for him anyways, because she hated us personally more than she ever cared about victims.
That does not change the fact that there is no justification for sexual harassment and assault. Sexual harassment and assault are not suitable punishments for bitchy, annoying women. The perpetrator did not inflict that upon the victim because she was a bad person, or because you personally hated her. They did that because they’re a sexual predator. Any excuses you make for why you shouldn’t have to care about this particular victim will be used against any victim, even ones who aren’t bitchy and annoying, because predators (and society in general) see victims who speak out as inherently bitchy and annoying.
