She says that people who from a young age were made to feel like they kept doing things wrong - people who’s parents had impossibly high standards for them, people who were bullied, people who have special needs, people who didn’t develop crushes on the “right” people, people who didn’t act like the “right” gender - basically ended up being made to feel guilty so much that guilt became their default response to everything. Guilt became the emotional response to anything which the person didn’t already have a set emotion for.

Galicia says he lost 26 pounds during that time in a South Texas immigrant detention center because officers didn’t provide him with enough food.

He said he wasn’t allowed to shower and his skin was dry and dirty.

He and 60 other men were crammed into an overcrowded holding area where they slept on the floor and were given only aluminum-foil blankets, he said. Some men had to sleep on the restroom area floor.

Ticks bit some of the men and some were very sick, Galicia said. But many were afraid to ask to go to the doctor because CBP officers told them their stay would start over if they did, he said.

Plus a huge extensive gallery of all the art and concept art of these games. Collection of Mana is a collection of all three classic Mana/Seiken Densetsu games, including the never-before translated Seiken Densetsu 3! A legendary Action RPG that since the 90s, western fans lamented it never being released outside of Japan. Well, now it has! With the translated title Trials of Mana! Speaking of titles that were never before released outside of Japan or translated, Moon: Remix RPG Adventure is an incredibly interesting and forward-thinking Playstation 1 “anti-RPG” made by some of the people who have worked on all-time classics like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG, about befriending people rather than killing monsters. It is one of the main inspirations for Undertale. It is a hidden gem even in Japan, so it being ported and translated was completely a labor of love situation, so please support it if this game interests you! The SNK 40th Anniversary Collection is a preservationist’s preservationist collection. It’s a collection of very old, very early SNK games, pre-Neo Geo era. Games that haven’t been ported anywhere else or are often forgotten. It’s filled to the brim with games and concept art. There’s also the Contra Collection and two Castlevania collections, one that’s more focused on their more classic titles and another that’s just the two most held-up Castlevania games, Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night, in one package. Rondo of Blood in particular, wasn’t brought over to the west at all originally. It’s only release outside of Japan was on a PSP remake of it, so this is, outside of emulation, pretty much the only way to play one of the best Castlevania games out there.

That campaign - the little recycling logos on our plastics, the upbeat videos about a future where plastic was part of a circular economy of use and recycling - convinced us to buy, wash, and sort plastic.

90% of that plastic was never recycled. It never will be.

NONE of those splashy campaigns - the announcement that all NYC school plastics would be recycled, the recycling in national parks - ever worked. They all lasted long enough to get some upbeat press, and then they quietly shut down.

This week’s NPR/Planet Money investigation by Laura Sullivan doesn’t just talk to the ex-chief lobbyists, now serving as belated Oppenheimers, lamenting the impending destruction of our planet.

It also talks to the current round of executives who have announced a fresh round of plans to recycle plastics - completely disingenuous, insultingly obvious distraction tactics to convince us that their projections of TRIPLING production by 2050 isn’t a form of mass murder.

Then Sullivan circles back to those retired executives, the ones who oversaw the first disinformation campaign, and they confirm that this latest round of promises are literally the same tactic, barely updated for a world on fire.

The world is on fire. My sky has been orange all week. Our family’s socially distanced meetings with friends in parks or back yards have been cancelled because we cannot breathe outside.

Exxon - and Chevron, and the rest of Big Oil - knows.
