This scene genuinely got me messed up because, as you might know, li jing is a terrible father that absolutely hates Nezha. When Nezha is born in investiture, li jing believes it to be a bad omen because of lady yin being pregnant for so long. He thinks a demon or some kind of monster will come out and is fully prepared to kill the baby.

Then, when Nezha comes out, he’s described as being this beautiful child that basically glows. When li jing is handed nezha to hold him, he has this moment when he looks at Nezha and feels genuine love and care for his child. When Nezha is born, li jing loves him. It’s such a stark contrast to later in the story when li jing wants nothing more than Nezha’s death.

2012 TMNT Ninjago AU because I said so. Might post Kai, Cole, Jay, and Zane’s mutant designs once I get the motivation to actually draw them.

Anyways, this little comic is based on the episode Karai’s vendetta (season 1 episode 21). In my AU, Nya takes the role of April (with many, many lore changes to the show because I despise 2012 April), and Lloyd takes Karai’s role.
