Spock's way more laser focused. On his knees at lunch break cos he's got an anxiety to work through and the feeling of a dick on his tongue helps him relax. He's figured out a trick that gets McCoy to come in the four minutes it takes the centrifuge to cycle and McCoy's developing a Pavlovian response to its little finished jingle. I like the idea that they're selfish about it too. Like, Spock had a bad meeting and got yelled at but he has to go do boring space calculations now so he swings by McCoy's office and sucks him off even tho McCoy's there like, "ughh I'm not in the mood, Spock, make it quick."

Or McCoy has a too long day in surgery and his brain is too wired he can't sleep so he goes to Spock's room and Spock like "not now doctor, I'm working late." But McCoy's like, "doesn't seem like a me problem, keep working," while he's getting himself comfy under Spock's desk

Also when one of them needs help switching off the other discovers eventually that a blowie is your best bet. Like Spock has a disaster conference with some alien higher ups and McCoy's hangs back afterwards like, "holy shit they tore into you hard. best get on your knees now, sweets." And Spock'll bitch about it but he also takes McCoy deep and chokes himself hard on him.

Spock's technique is more to corner McCoy in his office or the lab or wherever he's working himself stupid and just presses up against him to show how hard Spock is. If McCoy's ignoring him Spock'll just take his dick out and stroke himself until McCoy relents and gets helpful

I do absolutely adore a sex before romance story tho, so natch this would have scene where they want to make out after a particularly emotionally-prompted blow job but don't and then go home separately and stare at the ceiling thinking about how the other's skin looks lit up by sunset it whatever.

I like to imagine Spock getting advice from some alien if the week character about if he has a crush or a fever (cos he can't tell) and she, very helpfully, goes, "try giving him a blow job and you'll find out" and Spock's just like. Sigh. You don't know how unhelpful that is.

Whereas McCoy just keeps hanging out with Scotty or Kirk and muttering, "I think I fucked up" and refuses to elaborate. Eventually he says it forgetting Spock is in the room and Spock follows him back to his quarters like, "if you think you fucked up maybe I can suck your dick again." And McCoys just like hhhhhh say fuck again

Some McCoy characterization from the books I’ve read so far

- great listener and observant, he picked up on a lot of what to do while in command in Jim’s absence just by remembering conversations they’ve had and watching Jim interact with the crew on the bridge

- gets anxiety attacks so bad that he starts shaking and he knows breathing exercises to calm himself down when this happens

- not a morning person. at all.

- really good at making everyone around him feel at ease in tense situations by making them laugh and just genuinely being a friendly guy

- keeps dark chocolate in his desk drawer because it was a gift from a friend and he shares with his head nurse

- he’s really sweet and polite and very much a Southern gentleman but he’s also SO sarcastic, Doctor Sassmaster McCoy

- he’s level-headed at the best of times but he’s always been good at shouting and oh boy he’s got quite the temper (but that’s nothing new)

- doesn’t do well with loud, sudden noises (like the red alert siren)

- nearly flunked out of college anatomy and was generally not a good student, he would bring home failing report cards from school

- used to be really introverted and shy in high school

- blushes when he’s embarrassed
