I didn’t want to reblog with comments because I sometimes feel weird about doing that when the OP isn’t a mutual (and I don’t know if they want the reblogs that way) but I just saw a pretty brilliant post on lightsaber crystal colors.  I definitely think the premise of that post - that the colors are individual to the person and can mean different things - is spot on.  I feel like the crystals and lightsabers are very personal and attuned to their owner’s connection to the Force. That includes the color(s) of the blade. Neither Jedi nor Sith nor Order of Shasa can just pick up another person’s lightsaber and start using it.  I’ve headcanoned that in the Sith class stories in SWTOR, one of the reasons Baras and Zash *give* lightsabers to their apprentices instead of letting them make new ones is because they KNOW the alignment and attunement will be off and it will weaken their apprentices just enough. The same is true with Valkorion giving a lightsaber to Vaylin. It’s also one reason that Lord Kallig in the Sith Inquisitor story wants his heir to find his old lightsaber - since it responds to family it is far easier to use and align with the Inquisitor.  As a person’s connection to the Force changes over their life, their lightsaber and crystal might very well fall out of attunement with them. The person may need to clear and re-align their weapon and crystal, and the color of the crystal might change. I don’t think this is even necessarily a LS/DS thing but just about change.  I don’t see any of the colors as being bad - and I don’t think red crystals come from torture or mistreatment; they come from the way the person is tapped into the Dark Side and channeling anger.  In headcanon,my Sith Warrior eventually ends up with a black core/purple blade. The black core is because she had a very close, very painful brush with death and great pain, along with some very cosmic disruptions in the Force flowing through her. The purple is the color she channels on her own.
