a relationship should be 50/50, i fight for our future by not seeing you so you don't get hanged and you fight for our love by trying to see me constantly
call me a tragedy enjoyer but i just LOVE belle being unable to save the girl with an aortic aneurysm. i love how it's the first time we see belle fail in a medical setting and how it's this, of all things, the very surgery that saved her, and she has to live with the knowledge that another surgeon was able to do what she herself could not. i love her panic as she realizes she's made a mistake, how she runs to find sneed, and how sneed speaks to her like she's an equal, doesn't condemn her, doesn't do or say anything to make her more panicked or upset. and i love love love how she falls apart when the girl dies on her table, and she's the only one who does, because she's the only one who's never lost a patient before, but also this isn't just any patient, this could have been her. and if she had been the surgeon assigned to her own surgery, she would be dead. that jack saved her then, but he was nowhere to be found now, and he probably would have saved this girl, but all she got was belle, and belle wasn't good enough.
belle has always known that she is good and she has been underestimated and condescended her entire life and she's taken solace in the fact that the people doing that have always been wrong. but now she looks at her patient, who died on her table, and for the very first time, she wonders whether they were right. whether it was her own arrogance, her desperate ambition, that killed this girl. because she was reckless, unpracticed, and she nicked the aorta, and now the girl is dead, and sneed and jack are right, of course, that sometimes patients die, that you can do everything right and still lose the patient, but belle will always carry this with her, this first loss. this failure to give the second chance she got. she will always feel like this was her fault.
we got forehead touching forehead kiss miscommunication angst jealousy forbidden love so much handholding dancing intellectual fights belle constantly invoking their future jack romanticizing their compatibility grinning and running around like kids sleepy morning cuddles jack saying they're married "congress" hurt/comfort "you're my only concern" jack worrying sick over belle's health belle worrying sick over jack's safety "damn you" jack immediately happy to move in together belle begging for jack's life the love word like fifty billion times thank you dodgerfox for serving
fandom etiquette as a whole died when people who didnât grow up on fandoms became stans during lockdown, yes, but why am i seeing people openly mocking fics on twitter. why am i seeing screenshots of fics with captions like âbro what is this đ.â why am i seeing people mock fic writers for not knowing how sports or theater or college or any other organization operates in the real world.
âcollege is absolutely nothing like thisâ âwhy are we writing four people on the team scoring a hat trick in one gameâ âso tech work is nothing like this, hope that helps!â
if you donât like a fic, and if you canât suspend your belief enough to enjoy a fic that exaggerates or ignores real-world orgs, you donât have to read it. you donât have to screenshot it and put it on blast for twitter. you donât have to post a link to it in the replies. the back button is literally there on your phone. itâs not giving babyâs first fandom anymore, itâs giving entitled asshole and it isnât as cute as you think it is.

I am a terrible combination of âwhatever happens, happensâ and âIf everything doesnât go according to plan, I will vaporizeâ
the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.
It's UNHINGED that Belle tests the acid by just pouring quite a lot of it on her own leg. Girl you did not have to do that!
The mad scientist vibes on this absolute weirdo, for real:
She just hangs out in her bedroom in a plague doctor mask for no reason other than maybe the aesthetic, since she's up to date on the latest medical developments and that's definitely not it
She deals with unwanted social situations by just dropping disgusting medical facts that will alienate people
She blackmails a criminal into training her as a surgeon
She's touched to the point where she looks like she might tear up when she gets to open up a corpse
When faced with an obstructive, incompetent authority figure she'll just get him out of the way by casually chlorophorming him then lying
Doing dangerous surgery is her favorite thing in the world
Letting her make the first incision is the most romantic thing ever and will get her to kiss you over an unconscious idiot she's about to do surgery on
She just tests new dangerous medical developments on herself and, after she gets it working, on her very startled loved ones
Mostly does it in the puffiest skirts ever that seem to have come out of my childhood daydreams
She'll just lie and pull rank to get what she wants, she simply ignores rules that are inconvenient to her, but otherwise she's all haughty and expects to be called milady
She's intelligent, passionate and stubborn, she's extremely confident, arrogant actually, a bit hypocritical, but she cares deeply and she's learning
What she's learning is how to do gory 1850 surgery, how to do CRIME, the wrongs of colonialism, and that making out in a hospital supply closet is hot
I love her so, so much đ

Lettuce-In-Law
Fandom: The Artful Dodger Pairing: Jack/Belle Rating: T Word Count: 2166
Summary: The first marriage proposal of the evening might be ill-conceived, but the second is quite sensible.
There is something in the manner of the manâthe bank man, the man under whose nose their father allegedly thrust a shovelful of dirtâas he descends to one knee that conjures in Belleâs mind some sort of toy with springs. As if he might pop up from his propositionerâs crouch with unsettling and mechanical speed. But he is not a toy, and this is not a game, despite the party invitations and the pretty foursome of Foxes in evening attire. The scrape of chairs as they all turn to look scratches a rough match of pain down her sternum. Itâs starting, but itâs damn inconvenient timing, so as Fannyâs premature âYesâ leaps from her tongue, Belle employs equal haste to rise from her chair, trying to stand up straight so she will be taken seriously, trying to fill her lungs that she might have breath to scream over the unfairness of women dressed like dolls so men with childlike expressions might be overcome over dinner and fall at their feet.
Holy hell, we're in trouble.
I'm sorry but the way Jack rubbed his nose against Belle's nose? How can they get from the hottest kiss to such cute and sweet moment I love them
That little part is my Roman Empire. I have not been able to stop thinking about it since it happened.

Look, if marvel didnât want me to ship bruno and kamran they simply should not have given them the iconic trope of showing up on the doorstep of your âenemyâ with the patheticness of a wet cat saying âI didnât know where else to goâ, leading to them being reluctantly harbored in the otherâs home
This is why representation matters
This past weekend, I watched the first two episodes of Ms Marvel with my parents in Pakistan and seeing our culture accurately represented on the screen, especially in something as big as the fucking MCU, was such a huge deal for all of us. Throughout the episodes, we were screaming out at the desi references (Ko Ko Karina made me soo fucking happy) and when all the moments where we felt like our own family, our own struggles and the way we deal with things in our households, it was a moment of reassurance in our hearts that we are seen; we do exist outside of just being terrorists and token âMuslimâ characters to fill a quota.
Some thing that really made me realize this was when my father, on multiple occasions, exclaimed âWe have made it to Marvelâ with such joy and amazement because he was able to see things about his culture and his life on the screen portrayed in a way that made him proud and not villainized because of his country. Because letâs be honest, most of the times Pakistan and Pakistanis are not portrayed in the best of lights in western media.
This also applies to the Partition scene where the British are actually called out for their actions and they are portrayed as the ones in the wrong instead of the people of the subcontinent, which was a very refreshing take.Â
Before this, whenever I used to see people claiming how much the positive representation they got in media affected and mattered to them I never really understood it because it had never happened for me. Until now.Â
Ms Marvel is a wonderous show which portrays the true nature and beauty of the Pakistani culture and I have never been happier to be able to claim that a character is from the same place and background as me. It has already broken so many stereotypes and means so much to the people that it portrays and I can not wait to see where it goes next.
