Honestly the evolution of mobile game ads is so baffling to me. Like it must be working or this wouldn't have happened but at this point I downright do not trust that any of the ads have anything to do with the game (if I'm not immediately rendered hostile by Shockbaiting) so even on the very rare occasions one looks even slightly interesting im never going to download it because I'm like well the game isn't like that. And this is because that's true quite literally every time. So I'm never going to click on any of them. Howww is this viable as a business model. And why does it keep getting WORSEEEE. STOP SHOWING ME THE AWFUL AI GENERATED PLAGUE DOCTOR CHEESE ADS I HATE YOUUU
Did do some further research on this and it seems like the reasons are twofold. One, the ads are MEANT to be irritating and awful to look at in order to get people to pay for add free experiences in apps. Which is like this awful example of mutualism where all companies offering ad free subs benefit from this even when it's not their shitty ads being shown. Two, they mostly profit off of individual wealthy consumers (whales) who pour a LOT of money into it and everyone else is pretty meaningless to them. So I suppose it's like scam emails where they're self filtering because the people who get pissed off by these ads arnt likely to be one of those whales. So the more gullible individuals who would still click on them are also more likely to spend that money. Sucks.
