so like, when the writers decided to have house drive a car into cuddy's dining room. did they know lisa edelstein wasn't coming back to the show. i mean i guess they probably didn't right but was it a possibility. were they specifically trying to write an ending that would justify cuddy leaving permanently, just in case that would be needed. and if it wasn't a sure thing, and they knew she might stay, how would they justify that. what were their plans for cuddy if she had been in season 8. would we bow down to the status quo and try to find someway to reconcile them after house, who had literally married a woman like two episodes after the breakup, decided that cuddy having dinner with another man long afterwards justified trying to kill her and everyone else in that room. im not even being facetious i am so curious what exactly were their long term plans for that.

i'm probably. going to have to just ignore this and put this out of my personal canon. like not something i usually care to do so directly and blatantly but i kind of have to. at least to some degree. like its going to be hard to just engage with this show and this character without treating that part like it was just some wild fever dream. there's house being a dick, and then there's attempted murder. it's deeply fascinating (negative) (not affectionate) as a creative choice for sure but if i were to treat this as a totally normal, natural story progression it would make me hate both the show and character forever which i kind of don't want to. and i mean honestly it doesnt even really seem that in character for house who's, again, always been a dick, but not a murderer or domestic abuser, and he's already been testing my patience for much of this season (even though it has been balanced out by the amount of good proper whump we've also been getting).
