A bit more About Me under the cut
I am in my early 30s, mom to a stupidly adorable dog (see tag "sputnikposting"), and work some kind of job that I complain about from time to time. I'm currently preparing to begin working towards a master's degree, which is, you know, terrifying, but no pressure.
My primary fandom is Hetalia, which I have been in for nearly fifteen years, because something something special interest hyperfixation something something. I'm also on the very edges of TURN: Washington's Spies fandom, though I've mostly fallen out of it. I also reblog from a variety of other fandoms, but as far as fanworks and meta go, it's pretty much all Hetalia from me.

In addition to fandom stuff, I reblog a lot of posts about Judaism (under the tag "jewish stuff") and history (under the tag "history stuff"). I am decidedly to the left on most political matters, if you were wondering, and stand in support of those continuing to fight for democracy and peace in Israel.
Over the years I have learned that curating your own online experience is critical to fandom enjoyment, and as such, I block liberally in the face of shitty behavior directed at me or anyone, and that includes supporting or positively interacting with other people's shitty behavior. One of the guys I worked with told us a story about how, when they were doing archaeology surveys in the woods they ran into a bigfoot hunter. Bigfoot guy asked if they had seen signs of bigfoot, and he was like "Sorry, nothing like that. We're archaeologists, so we're looking for human stuff." and the bigfoot guy was like "Oh! I saw some Native American cairns on my way out here. I can give you a general location." and when he was like "Yeah dude, that'd be sick. We're actually looking to document those." the bigfoot guy was like "Yeah, they looked pretty cool. I didn't touch them though, because Native Americans built them, not bigfoot."
people’s minds have been melted by the internet and performative activism discourse. they don’t actually care that countries have been ‘problematic’ (their fave word) in the past (name me one large country who hasn’t in one way or another seriously) they just want to guilt trip and cause discourse because for some reason being aware has circled back around to moral checking and thought policing in order to feel superior because everyone feels too watched on the internet and are just ultimately terrified to come across as a bad person, so it’s the safer option to act morally superior than voice an actual personally thought opinion

i think what makes tumblr great now is that nobody gives a shit? Like, there is NOTHING to be gained from being on here except the pure joy of making stuff for people and with people?
If you're on twitter or threads or reddit, and you say, "Oh, I had a terrible experience with Delta Airlines. They canceled my flight and then booked me into a hotel room with a stranger," and you tag Delta, there's a chance Delta Airlines itself will come and apologize. Maybe even give you some SkyMiles or something.
But if you complain about a terrible airline experience on tumblr, all you can hope for is that someone might come along and write slash fiction about two guys who get booked into the same hotel room by Delta Airlines.
You can't gain social capital by being here. Nobody knows who you even ARE because your user name is, like, some randomly generated phrase or else an obscure reference to hockey sex books.
I'm not saying it's perfect, of course. It's a super toxic hellsite that eats the ashes of its former self to survive. But it beats twitter any day, and not only because twitter is owned by a raving mad white supremacist fuckchild.

a woman wanted me to let her know if I had a particular item in storage, and she went to get a card out of her purse and went ‘oh no. I’m out of my work cards, I’m so sorry about this’ and handed me this:
apparently her husband made them for her as a joke but then she just had like 300 of them so they’re her backups when she runs out of her real business cards.
Every time you go in a public place and something ISN’T disgusting it’s because somebody cleaned it. Every time you feel comfortable using a public bathroom or sitting at a restaurant table or setting something on a gas station counter or playing on a playground it’s because somebody cleaned it.
