Important rules for the "age verification" era of the internet that we're living in:
1. Do not do age verification.
2. If you have to do age verification, cheat. Do not under any circumstances give them your real ID.
The tool presents users with a 3D model they can then manipulate to, the creator says, bypass Discord's age verification system.
Oh no I dropped my link, what a horrible thing! Sure hope this doesn't get reblogged until it reaches users from the UK and Brazil!
And remember to not make a second account just to test out what works best when verifying your identity
A reminder that we still dont support Age Verification bullshit.

Talking to friends with inept parents is crazy. No wonder they’re like this if their parents kept fumbling
“I’m having trouble adapting to my adult responsibilities” well no wonder, nobody raised you 😭😭😭
Hot tip for future parents: you actually have to guide your kid to adulthood. Feeding them and waiting for them to grow up is not enough since they are not house plants. A little more thought and care is required.
for those lacking certain "adulting" skills, especially things around the house, check out:
mom, how do i...?
and dad, how do i...?
^ there are tons of other resources but these two will teach you some personal hygiene, home or apartment repairs, easy recipes and basic cleaning techniques, even how to schedule doctor's appointments
if youre a renter i cannot recommend the trans handyma'am enough, mercury is a lifesaver, and her channel and accounts are always accepting new questions
there are so many resources, a lot that you dont have to even ask for, just know how to look 🩷 much love
I sent this to an artist friend and then realized I should just share it with everyone!
A Non-Exhaustive List of my Favourite Free Procreate Brushes:
Oil Paint 2019 -> my painted Bradley Bradshaw portrait and pin up bucky are done entirely with this pack
Trisketched Ink Brushes -> the colour burn brush from here is the loml, i use it for most of my lineart and a good chunk of my sketches ( + the doodle above)
Rake Brush Pack -> “blocky painting rake” is awesome and rake brushes in general are just great for a painterly style
Charcoal Brushes -> i used to use the “thin” brush from this pack all the time for everything
Taty’s Marker Brushes -> has some nice paper texture brushes, i havent used the markers much so i have no insight there
Halftone Hospital -> they got a load of nice free stuff!
And also dont sleep on the HB brush included with procreate :P
Bonus:
JingSketch Complete Procreate Brushes Collection -> this one is paid but it was definitely worth it for me, ive been using a bunch of the brushes from it for years now
Hot tip! If your colours look flat, try adding a teeny tiny bit of colour jitter to your brush (stamp and/or stroke) i sometimes duplicate my favourite colouring brushes and make colour jitter versions ;)

Hiii! :D
Hey, is it okay if you give me some tips on how to use Procreate? I'm most likely going to get an Ipad for Christmas, along with Procreate, and moving to another art program is hard 😅, plus, so I don't get confused on what to do lol
Ooh that’s awesome! 😍😍😍 I hope you get it! Procreate is AMAZING. Once you get used to it, it’s super easy to use. It’s not all that great with animation (just a bit glitchy when it comes to saving them), so I would still use a different app for that. But there are a bunch of really amazing brushes, so I definitely suggest playing around with them and figuring out which ones best fit your art style. 😁
Here are some brushes I personally love using:
•The Monoline brush for inking and line art
•Round Brush for coloring in larger areas
•Brush Pen for lines that taper off at the end, like hair or facial features.
•Dove Lake for texturing things like plants and trees
•Currawong for texturing walls and buildings
•I use Twisted Tree with a super light opacity to texture anything made of wood, like tree trunks or rafters.
•Clay on a lower opacity is good for texturing anything made of stone
•Wildgrass on a lower capacity can be used to make some cool textured grass
•And of course, I love to use anything in the Luminance folder to make things SHINY AND SPARKLY 😜🤣
Those are just a few of my favorites. There are some really cool features in the top tabs, too. A Drawing Guide, blur features, liquifying tool. You can duplicate layers, or change their opacity; all sorts of things that I’m sure different drawing apps have, but they’re super easy to use on here! And so far, I haven’t discovered very many glitches with the app (one app I used to have would crash on the regular, and I would lose an entire drawing I spent hours on. But as many years as I have had Procreate, it has only crashed two or three times and my drawing was exactly as it was when I went back into it).
One tip I would tell you to use that I do all the time is quick erasing: Tap the screen with two fingers at once, and it will erase your last action. You can do it numerous times to erase however many of your previous actions that you want. You can also redo those deleted actions by tapping the screen with three fingers at once. Just something useful that took me a while to learn about. 😊
Oh, and when it comes to saving a drawing, I tend to save it as a PNG; better quality.
If you ever have any more questions about it, feel free to ask me! 💜
Drawing symmetrical shapes in Procreate
Short guide, also I’m assuming in this that you already know of and how to use the quick shape tool in procreate (draw shape -> hold -> quick shape)
For a perfect circle you draw an oval, hold to do the quick shape, and while holding tap on the screen and hold with 1 finger to snap to a perfect shape.
Make sure that you let the pen (or finger) that drew the initial shape leave the screen before the one snapped it to a perfect shape or else it’ll revert. You can do this to make perfectly symmetrical squares and triangles as well. When rotating them they’ll snap to a 15° rotation circle
This also works for the ellipse selection tool (but not the rectangle one)
Sorry for the low quality in the last two gifs, had to compress them
so funny when someone is like "look at my pet wolf. he is half arctic wolf and half timberwolf 🥰" and the animal in question looks like this
"well huskies look SO MUCH like wolves it's really hard to tell them apart"
uh huh
blotched/classic tabby variation is so wide and I think it needs to be appreciated. Somewhat obviously our sketching is primarily focused on the torso area. Obviouslt not got repreesentatives of all the sorts- I don't have the hollow variants drawn, though you can see them here and there in the photos The photos are ones I have accumulated over the last few years trawling through the rspca and aspca, along with various other sources. (This does unfortunately mean I am entirely stuck going with photos that at least mostly show the patterning, rather than having nice clear side photos to work with)
I have my fun clump up in the top right area of the photoboard that's got some real individuals, very unique. Blotched machine got drunk and half-arsed it.
It'd be interesting, maybe, to look at family lines and see if the patterning has trends that could link to genetic factors, or if it is just random chance in what variant pattern the skin thickens in, like fingerprints. Can't do that with the cats in my folders though since, well, shelter cats.
(Also, did not include any 'swirl' type spotted mackerels, since I'm, well, not counting them as Blotched, but it'd also be interesting to find out if there is even just a higher correlation of them in Mcmc/ mackerel-carrying-blotched lines.)
Does anyone have any favourite variations of blotched?
I was talking shop with an artist in the studio today and I shared this page from Andrew Loomis, which might be the single most valuable page I've ever encountered in a how-to-draw book. I can't BEGIN to say how many hours this "hanging figures on the horizon" technique has saved me.
(EDIT: Over on another site, someone said they didn’t understand how to read this pic, so maybe adding a second pic and some explanation will help?)
Let’s say I want to draw “Joe” standing further back. I need to know where to place him so he looks like he's the same height, even though he's further away. If I get it wrong, he’ll look giant or tiny.
I can do that by making sure that the horizon cuts thru Joe AT THE SAME HEIGHT, no matter how close or far away he is. In the original picture, it cuts thru the original Joe at the waist.
So let’s look at three different Joes.
A: Wrong. Horizon goes thru his knees. In this context, he’s a giant.
B: Correct. Horizon goes thru his waist, just like the original Joe!
C: Wrong. Horizon goes thru his head. In this context, he’s tiny.
Reblogging because it's been 75 years and Loomis is still right.

My hot take is that if you’re having a bad time you should start knitting dishcloths
“I don’t know how to knit!” Great way to learn, learning makes you feel good. I learned entirely on YouTube
“What if I fuck it up?” Doesn’t matter, it will still wipe a counter/wash your armpits just fine
Small and portable
Uses cheap cotton yarn and straight needles
Relaxing and repetitive, good for podcasts/music/TV
Can’t doomscroll if knitting
People on the bus and in bars and at the library will approach you and tell you some happy memory about their grandmother/mother/aunt knitting dishcloths and then you will have had a pleasant interaction
Fun to give away—another pleasant interaction
Literally hundreds of free patterns! Here are some of my favorites

Simple Stripe Washcloth
Double Moss Stitch Washcloth
source: knitting one right now, having a very nice time
i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping
this also goes for aesthetic or -core titles. 'y2k tank top' is going to get you resellers and fast fashion brands advertising to people looking to meet a current trend. 'thin strap crop tank top' is going to get you a diverse group of results and not upcharge you to hell and back
additionally, shop second hand when you can, second hand and thrift sites typically organize clothes by the cut and color. theyll be more affordable than a depop seller curating you a style to sell you
useful terminology for different kinds of clothing shapes :)
here are more terms! these are all from enérie. it is a really good blog that has lots of fashion terminology and it's a good mix of menswear and womenswear! they also have a book as well compiling all their diagrams. you could also look into getting a visual fashion dictionary for terms as well!
A follow-up tutorial I made for how to draw character expressions! Read Part 1 here
i hate that every time i look for color studies and tips to improve my art and make it more dynamic and interesting all that comes up are rudimentary explanations of the color wheel that explain it to me like im in 1st grade and just now discovering my primary colors
“red and green are opposites 🥰” cool now how do i paint a tree with pinks and blues without it looking like a child’s finger painting or incongruous blobs of rainbow vomit
ok i can’t explain it very well but im looking for tips and techniques for rendering art like
with specifically the highlights and colors being hues that compliment each other, don’t distract from the scene, and make it more interesting/visually appealing
is it too much to ask
gonna drop some sources I have saved on Pinterest! I don't know if these all link back to the original sources so apologies for that
cohesive but still contrasting
This kind of talks about color and composition
This is a bit about landscape specifically
Values & composition
Contrast in composition
Balance in colors & values
This one's more for palette building but I think it's useful and can be applied to the other ones
Cohesion within compositions/lighting
"Chromatic fringe" - I also see people using this with shading, they bring in a transition color that is a different hue than the base color or shadow, it makes it so that less vibrancy is lost and it doesn't get muddy!
This one specifically has a lot of process behind the style of painting you're looking for!
Also one of my favorite artists who makes bright and colorful art like this is Not Sorry Art on TikTok & YouTube, her website is here and it's<3 my fav. She has some videos where you can see her process
With the oranges painting you put as an example, I noticed they painted the lighter values more toward yellow - they also exaggerated the hues of the undertones of the photo, so I'm guessing they either did it in their head or bumped the saturation up to get a closer look! I really love these paintings you shared and I definitely share your desire to paint/draw like that :)
thanks this is super helpful! /gen
If you'd like 2 Print books that I absolutely reccomend to every visual artist regardless of Media, Color and Light and Imaginative Realism by James Gurney are basically religious texts for artists, even the 3-D people because his understanding and explanation of how light and form work is that damn good.
If you're wondering about Mr. Gurney's chops:

How to Write your Will so men don’t Touch your fucking Body after Death
transcript under the readmore
Keep reading
It is really sad to read replies saying they’re taking themselves off organ donation lists.
women overwhelmingly donate their bodies more than men and are overwhelmingly the victims of postmortem rape and defilement. If someone wants me to donate my body they need to create female-only donation tracks where I am legally guaranteed no male will come in contact with my corpse. Get moving on that.
Women are the majority “donors” of the organs while men are the majority of recipients.
Do you ever wonder, how often a healthy woman goes to the hospital for something easily treatable and winds up dead because doctors drinking buddy needed a new liver?
Because I do.
If my “selfish” choice of not donating my organs kills even one man, it will be a net positive in my opinion.

since snap benefits are being threatened i wanna share the single resource i can atm which is the woman behind Dollar Tree Dinners. for years now she has consistently provided filling, healthy recipes that really push the envelope on good meals from dollar tree ingredients. especially since next month will involve lots of family meals regardless if you celebrate the holiday, people should be pleased to know she puts together videos showing how to make a holiday meal on a budget.
