As much as we try to see some good in anti-endo spaces, since there are many antis who don't condone harassment and simply have.. different beliefs, any time we spend in their spaces - and even outside their spaces, like the DID and Actually DID tags - is always full of hate.
We wanted to add our experiences in, as someone who's done syscourse for many years across many platforms now.
Our experiences with anti-endos include:
-being targeted by specific accounts
-harassed in comments, reposts, DMs, and asks/anons
-sent death threats/told to off ourself
-told we're faking and claiming we must have a perfect amazing life, because we support endos
-had our diagnosis, trauma, and life invalidated, fakeclaimed, and ignored
-told we can't possibly have DID or trauma because we disagree with them
-called almost every slur under the sun, called subhuman, less than, worthless, invasive, etc.
-had our offline life strongly affected because, people close to us that we trusted lied to us about being safe to be around, and came into our safe spaces IRL when we were trying to recover
-seen this done to our friends
-being told to stop our recovery because they didn't like how we were doing it
-being told to stop helping fragments form because it's forcing ourself to split (when not helping them finish forming makes us split)
-told to create more conflict with our alters by ignoring them or not listening to and trying to understand them
-that we're misidentifying all of our personal experiences
-that none of us are real/none of us actually exist
-that we should stop seeing the only medical professionals who've acknowledged our trauma, just because they also acknowledge endos
-racism (we've seen it, and our wife has had to deal with it, as a Puerto Rican mixed-origins DID system)
-ableism (told we're delusional, psychotic, schizophrenic, are just hallucinating our alters, that we're crazy or insane for believing endos, and had our disabilities dismissed/ignored)
-transphobia (claims that we aren't trans because we support endos, that we're faking being trans, that we shouldn't be trans because we have DID)
and more that we're forgetting. It stopped being too bad for quite a while, then the anti-willo community appeared, and suddenly, we're back to being fakeclaimed and harassed.
Whereas, the endogenic and pro-endo communities made a space for us. They gave us the time and support we need for our recovery. They didn't judge us, just listened and offered support, and corrected us when we needed it.
Helped us realise we had DID and not OSDD, while anti-endos had encouraged us to believe we didn't have dissociative amnesia.
They showed us that a lot of our symptoms seemed like RAMCOA - we still don't know if it's something we experienced or not, we just don't remember enough, but we don't feel like we're being forced to immediately know that either. We can stabilise before looking into it.
We were given spaces, resources, and healthy recommendations that genuinely helped us manage our CDD and symptoms better, while most of the advice from the anti-endo community caused our symptoms to worsen.
Obviously, the communities aren't perfect. None are. Ableism and racism are an issue, but they're present in other communities as well and need to be addressed overall, not having one community blamed for everything.
Losing our train of thought, don't particularly enjoy talking about the harm our system has been caused, lol. We're not talking about every single anti-endo - but we are talking about what we've seen and experienced from specific individuals and the majority of the community we've encountered.
