The miraculous conception and birth and hiding of a child.
Chapter One: The Year Star
My eyes are open. As if a diminutive creature stretching in to the confinements of life, an intrusion of lights flood past my cornea to pierce my pupil. Above me, an over saturated moon bathes in a crimson, clotted, sea. A deep night torn open from the crescent, like a Ruby hatchet burrowed in to the sky. The glaze of the gibbous coats the purple robed canopy. Under the content of magnolia leaves, I find myself in limbo. Head wilting upon this illuminant rock, my body feels numb as my mind lacks duration. I lie here perched, indifferent, along this bristled dirt. The naked peripherals of my sight envelop in the skies sustenant satellite. The terrain here is weighted in lavender progression. Stars shimmer beyond an abundance of oil painted trees and porcelain shrubbery. Indefinitely, this seems a beautiful place to be.
I’m perplexed by the correlation. As I lift my head off of this radiant slab of earth, rediscovering winter skin, my vision follows hands to my bare feet. I purge the edge of heels off oatmeal ground in rotation to my fragile stance. Upon my incline drapes charcoal hair that flows on to a silent, starless, jet dress. The soft, cold, flesh that shelters me seems unaligned to nature’s furnished warmth. I feel like the undead stumbled into a forest of mortality. Oddly, this forest only seems to warrant my company. To my surmise, I have no recollection of this place or where I once was. This feels like a birthing as my eyes rise to take in the foreign atmosphere. In seeking a transcript of events, my mind only succeeds to further mystify me.
The curious wind; she combs through the bushes and coils my limbs. Contouring my face, creeping the crevice of my lips, she enters me. My chest, caught afloat, seeds air to the exterior room. My lungs comply to her suffocating contractions. Eyes deplete as I waver stability. Revoking my breath with her spontaneous intrusion, the consuming gale suddenly relents. The wind calls for retreat. The leaves of statuary trees glimmer in trepidation. Sound mimics sleep as I gasp in an exhilarating display of perturbed amusement.
From within the calm A loud moan conjures my attention. Way along the bank of a violet copse poised in stupendous leaves breathes what’s determinately the shadow of Jupiter. The ominous creature extends it’s mondo wings in to the space that parts the trees. The limbs of timber stretch back, cracking in to an unnatural position. I see it revealed, symmetric within the wooden frame; A bloated bat bearing scarlet cadaver. It’s lips tighten to revere elicit steam rising from shimmering keen teeth. Hovering closer before me, the weightless being unravels prominent speech.
"I’ve seen you child.
For years now. Each day.
Your Mortal bones have ached.
Your delicate skin has bled.
And I see now, that you are awake".
The alarming proclamation is acknowledged. I seize any reluctance in hopes that this mammoth bat contains potential to educate me. In relaying that, I suggest I speak in waves of subtlety.
"And… How much time have I spent here, creature"?
The mammoth bat rejects my question in favor of belittlement.
"Time
What a feeble notion.
It is the crutch you mortals walk with".
A response that further delusions me. Mortal, the creature says? In no way does that further the goal to conquer my confusion.
"Mortal, creature? Are we not of the same".
Once more, the ignorant bat trashes my inquiry. Although, In exchange, the creature allows to inform me.
"Though creature, I am, my appellation is Cama".
"Yes.
To answer you, we are not.
Your life, as I’ve witnessed, has been drifting to a slow demise".
Cama only continues to dilute me. Waking up in a lavender forest, with no prior memory of oneself, only to be met by a massive, philosophical, bat whom claims to know your existence is an overwhelming experience.
“Do you know me?”, I interject.
"I have seen your ignorance amongst the Year Star.
The leaves you wrestle feet through are born of me.
I have given you a home during your temporary sleep".
My curiosity is astounding.
"You’ve stated my ignorance so forgive me in not quite understanding.
What is the Year Star"?
Cama comforts chest before calmly relinquishing statement.
"Your current experience.
When life exists within the Inhabitors merits.
This forest.
This space.
You.
Celestina".
