When I was a kid watching tv was idiot coded and nerds read books, but now scrolling shortform videos is considered braindead behavior and watching tv means you're some kinda intellectual. You might think this shifting assessment of media's consumers might make readers into absolute super geniuses, but no. Only perverts read now.

‘The Ghetto Tarot’: Haitian artists transform classic tarot deck into stunning real life scenes:
Welcome to the Ghetto Tarot, a project from award-winning documentary photographer Alice Smeets and a group of Haitian artists known as Atis Rezistans. The idea was to take the classic Rider-Waite tarot deck of 78 cards and create a photographic version of each card using settings and objects in the vibrant ghetto of Haiti.
As Smeets says, “The spirit of the Ghetto Tarot project is the inspiration to turn negative into positive while playing. The group of artists ‘Atiz Rezistans’ use trash to create art with their own visions that are a reflection of the beauty they see hidden within the waste. They are claiming the word ‘Ghetto,’ thus freeing themselves of its depreciating undertone and turning it into something beautiful.”

So you know when you're writing a scene where the hero is carrying an injured person and you realize you've never been in this situation and have no idea how accurate the method of transportation actually is?
Oh boy, do I have a valuable resource for you!
Here is a PDF of the best ways to carry people depending on the situation and how conscious the injured person needs to be for the carrying position.
Literally a life saver.
(No pun intended.)

The kitchen in the Kent farmhouse was steeped in the aromatic scent of thyme and rosemary, their earthy fragrances filling the small kitchen. It was a scent that spoke of home, a testament, really, to Martha Kent’s belief that a house wasn’t truly a home without something delicious being prepared; whether that was one of her award-winning pies, or simply a warm, savoury meal lovingly put together with her boys in mind, who worked so hard to take care of the farm.
As a large pot simmered on the stove, Clark peered inside, eyebrows pinching as he took in the sight. The broth was a rich, golden colour, bright herbs bobbing on the surface. He couldn’t resist the urge to sneak a little taste, just to see how it was coming along. With one finger, he reached forward to dip into the broth, only for a sharp swat to connect with the back of his hand. It wasn’t enough to hurt him, of course, but the shock of it made him jump back nonetheless.
“Clark Joseph Kent,” Martha said, her voice firm but laced with the exasperated affection she reserved solely for her only son. She pointed her finger towards him, waggling it slightly. “I know I raised you better than that. If you want a taste, you’ll get a spoon.”
Clark flushed with embarrassment, giving her an apologetic smile. “Sorry, Ma,” He mumbled, attention being drawn to the sharp sound of vegetables being chopped by her skilled hands. “I’m just… I just want to be perfect.” He confessed, flipping open his small notebook and glancing over the steps he had written so far. “Next is… carrots?” He asked, voice a little uncertain as he watched her hands move with practiced efficiency. He could have chopped every vegetable in the kitchen in the blink of an eye to save her the time and effort, but this was her domain, and he knew better than to try to take over her kitchen.
She turned, wiping her hands on her apron as she gave him a warm smile, eyes crinkling at the corners. “You’re a sweet boy, Clark, you always have been.” She said, her voice soft. “I always say, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” She mused, humming a soft tune as she swept the carrots into a bowl. “And, well, Bruce might have Alfred to do all his cookin’ for him, but that’s no substitute for a meal made from the heart.”
Clark couldn’t help the blush that crept up his neck as he wrote down how many she had chopped. He hoped, more than anything, that she would be right about this; that Bruce would see this gesture as something sweet, that it was done only with him in mind. After all, he remembered all too well what it was like to catch a nasty cold when he was young and his powers hadn’t manifested. Each time without fail, Ma would appear at his bedside with a steaming bowl of her special chicken soup and would simply stay until he was finished eating, one hand stroking through his hair. It was a small gesture, but it was one that made him feel infinitely better.
Bruce deserved that. He deserved to have someone see him when he was vulnerable, who was willing to be with him during that time. He deserved to experience what it’s like, to have every spoonful remind him that he is loved, not for his purpose, but for being himself.
Adjusting his notebook in his grasp, Clark leaned forward again, standing slightly taller as he watched Ma begin peeling potatoes. This was an important task, one that he was determined to master, for Bruce.
And as his mother patiently explained the difference between a rolling boil and a gentle simmer, Clark couldn’t help but extend his hearing across the country, past the rustling cornfields and sleepy towns, until it locked on to the stuffy, congested sound of his beloved bat.

aroace ryland grace gets me So Bad because it's so. unbelievably painful. to think about the line "you don't even have a dog." the implication that loving your own life no matter what, that being afraid of what the mission asks of you, that loving beaches and enjoying the muddy fog that dilutes the sunrise and teaching kids and wearing stupid shirts that are only really for you to laugh at than anyone else isn't enough for someone to go ah, your life is so valuable. we can't possibly send you on a suicide mission. it's fucked up. it's horrific. his last memories of the planet he loves is one where he dug his nails into the dirt and clung until he rooted up grass. how tragic. how unbelievably harrowing.
mind you, i know that no matter grace's circumstances he would've been sent to space regardless, family or children be damned. he could have had a whole fleet of dogs and it wouldn't have been enough to save him. but something about that line. something about it.
project hail mary, the movie that you are.
harm reduction saves lives.
it's a good thing when someone shoots up with a clean needle.
it's a good thing when someone carries Narcan, whether they use drugs themselves or not.
it's a good thing when someone switches from using laced drugs to clean drugs.
it's a good thing when someone starts using only one drug at a time.
it's a good thing when someone goes on medication assisted treatment like suboxone, methadone, or amphetamines.
it's a good thing when someone reduces their spending on substances, or the frequency of their drug use.
it's a good thing when someone gets regular tests for STIs.
it's a good thing when someone is using with friends instead of using alone.
people who use drugs don't have to be abstinent to take better care of ourselves. any positive change we make around our substance use should be encouraged and accepted, never stigmatized or dismissed!
(goverment voice) we need to protect the children from pornography so our plan is to remove their eyes so they would never see something so traumatic. if you are against removing children's eyes you are basically a pedophile
