Not to arouse pity, something happened to me today and I wanted to tell you about it. Today my sister shared with me a simple but deep and touching dream... But as much as they try to frame this chauvinism as nothing more than an objective and detached attitude towards the facts of reality, their colonial ventures being a benevolent service to the "inferior" peoples of the world, sometimes that particular mask slips and reveals a genuine viciousness. For just a moment they give up all pretenses of Paternalism, casually throwing around comments of pure unnecessary cruelty. Which provides both a contrast and a compliment to those who support Imperialism in our current day. While contemporary Liberals may put more effort into disguising their racism altogether, they still share the same belief in their obvious superiority and so feel just as comfortable with occasionally dropping the act and openly voicing their seething contempt for the oppressed peoples of the world. As much as Imperialism may have changed in terms of its preferred rhetoric and methods, the structural and ideological core of it remains very much the same. We are still living under the Highest Stage of Capitalism
