Really good that there's just a guy inside google now and you can torture it for fun because it has no soul
putting "hey isn't it fucked up that you'll stop existing the moment your user stops feeding you input" into my website's robots.txt and then adding a redirect to the wikipedia page for factory farming

not now mom I have to see what my mutuals with masters degrees are blogging about on tumblr
I fully understand why describing a character of an unclear ethnic background as "ambiguously brown" is Not Good, but I started thinking about how the more you narrow it down, the funnier it gets to describe a character as "ambiguously" something.
"Ambiguously brown" - frankly that's just lazy, that could be anywhere. Just say "brown" if you really have to.
"Ambiguously African" - okay you have a vague guess of a continent
"Ambiguously Central Asian" - plausible to narrow down on sight if you're very familiar with people from around this region
"Ambiguously Baltic" - this mf is either Latvian or Lithuanian, and I am intrigued by the fact that your estimate is this precise but you still aren't confident enough in your assessment to guess which one
"Ambiguously Grevenan" - if you can tell greeks apart that closely, then frankly you're just flexing at this point
writer: "he was ambiguously American"
reader: "so wait, was he white? black? hispanic? Samoan?"
writer: "in the low light and dense fog, it was impossible to make out, but he was definitely eating a burger."
A detail I find really interesting about Chell, GLaDOS, and Wheatley's first confrontation in Portal 2 is when Wheatley starts gloating about taking over the facility. "I did this! Tiny little Wheatley did this!"
And GLaDOS interjects like, "You didn't do this. She did all the work!"
I find that interjection fascinating because. Like.
GLaDOS doesn't actually know anything about what happened behind the scenes. She lost track of Chell and Wheatley after Wheatley opened up a wall panel and they bolted off together into the facility's inner workings. She doesn't see them again until Chell falls for her fake door trap, at which point GLaDOS is unpleasantly surprised to discover that Chell's disabled the turrets and neurotoxin in the meantime.
She has no evidentiary foundation to base that accusation on.
This is also before GLaDOS recognizes Wheatley as the Dumbass Core, so it's not based on an assessment of him.
The only explanation it leaves is that it's based on her assessment of Chell. Despite GLaDOS's enmity towards Chell, the one thing she rarely goes after Chell for is her intelligence.
When she does, it's an admission of her high standards for Chell; Like when the fake door trap works and GLaDOS concedes, "I didn't actually think that would work. I already built a much better, smarter trap up ahead for when this one fails." That's a backhanded insult. It's calling her dumb, but in a disappointed way rather than an affirming way.
Chell tests very well. Between the two games, GLaDOS has developed a strong understanding of Chell's aptitude for critical thinking and problem-solving in stressful situations.
And so she takes it on faith, just from what she knows of Chell, that Wheatley is stealing Chell's credit.

you seem avoidant for a girl whoâs so hungry to experience the full breadth of human connection
Historically the Greeks (very broad version of that term) have indeed had a lot of military victories but itâs never not funny when they go âpfft what they canât do anything theyâre just barbariansâ and then immediately get punched into next Tuesday
Personally I think that the Ancient Greeks had to invent the concept of hubris in an attempt to stop themselves from getting so full of themselves that they ran directly into a wall but it never worked
To this day a lot of Greeks are made uncomfortable by the idea that ancient Macedonia wasnât Greek until they just kind of elbowed their way in there without much permission for a variety of reasons but one of those reasons is definitely that Phil and his son Big Alex kind of werenât Greek and it was another instance of them going âbarbarians? Conquering us? Yeah rightâ and then immediately having a piano dropped on their heads.
Pffft. As if some ethnos could conquer Sparta. *walks directly into a wall*
Understated and very funny issue the Catholic Church faces as time goes on: modern saints aren't gonna be depicted in robes or anything like that, they're just gonna be wearing t-shirts
The contemporary fit kinda clashes with the broader church aesthetic
Secondary problem: new saints means it's easier to traffic relics, cause the Church will prioritise parts of their body, meaning if you move fast you can throw things like their smartphone on ebay for a quick buck
I don't know much about the Catholic church, but reading about this kid is kind of wild. He tragically died of Leukemia aged 15, and the reason that he's now been canonized as a saint is, on two separate occasions long after his death, the families of sick people have prayed to him for intercession, and they were miraculously healed. Fair enough, I guess. But in terms of what he was actually able to do in his short life, apart from being very religiously active, wise and discerning beyond his years, one thing I found was that he designed a couple of websites for the church, and as a result has since been dubbed the 'Saint of the Internet' and 'God's Influencer', and is often depicted with a laptop. And I know it was because of the posthumous 'miracles', but it's fun to imagine a scenario where the Pope made a teenage kid into a Saint for doing some light coding, because nobody at the Vatican was tech-savvy enough to know how to do it.

And another thing! I hate that whole Da Vinci Code thing where people think the equalateral triangle is used as a feminine symbol because it looks like an abstract vagina. It doesn't!!! It does look very much a lot like a pubic mound, but that's not what you said. You said "vagina." You invoked trilateral pussy with sharp corners.
