SHIFTING & THE SENSES
a guide on why your senses are lying to you, and how to use that to your advantage.
today weβre diving into something i wish someone had told meΒ sooner: your senses will lie to you. and thatβs not a bad thing, itβs actually one of your biggest strengths when it comes to shifting.
so this post is all about: β§ why your five senses arenβt the ultimate authority β§ how to stop relying on them as βproofβ β§ what to do when βnothing feels differentβ β§ how to use sensory detachment to yourΒ advantage
because hereβs the truth: just because your bodyΒ feelsΒ like youβre still here... doesnβt mean you are. just because you havenβt heard new sounds or smelled new air or seen a new ceiling doesnβt mean your shift didnβt happen.
you are awareness. and awareness doesnβt need permission from the senses to change reality.
WHY YOUR SENSES ARENβT PROOF OF ANYTHING
we grow up being taught that what weΒ see,Β hear,Β touch,Β smell, andΒ tasteΒ is reality. but hereβs the thing no one tells you: your senses are just interpreters, not creators. and they areΒ soΒ easy to trick.
ever had a dream so vivid you swore it was real? ever felt your phone vibrate when it didnβt? ever walked into a room and forgotten why youβre there? yeah. your senses are not as reliable as you think.
your brain is constantly filtering and stitching together input to create the illusion of a stable βreality.β but when it comes to shifting, that illusion can get in the way because you start looking for proof in theΒ wrong places.
you ask: β why do i still feel my blanket? β β why do i still hear my fan? β β why donβt i see my DR room yet? β
but none of those things prove anything. you can shiftΒ andΒ still feel your blanket. you can shiftΒ andΒ still hear the same sounds. you can shiftΒ andΒ still be processing sensory input from this reality while your awareness is alreadyΒ there.
your senses arenβt indicators of success β theyβre just echoes of where your body usedΒ to be.
so if you're basing your progress on whether your senses βconfirmβ your shiftβ¦ youβre handing your power over to something that wasΒ never meant to lead you.
you are not your senses. you are the awareness behind them. and that awareness? thatβs what shifts.
HOW TO STOP RELYING ON THEM AS PROOF
detaching from your senses doesnβt mean ignoring your body or pretending youβre not here, it meansΒ choosingΒ not to make them your ruler. you are not a slave to what you feel, hear, or see. you are the one directing the experience.
hereβs how to begin shifting your relationship with sensory βevidenceβ:
1. remind yourself often: βsensation β truth.β just because something feels βrealβ doesnβt mean itβs the only reality. your CR feels real because your mind is used to it, not because itβs more valid than your DR (desired reality). familiarity isnβt proof. itβs just programming.
2. stop checking. seriously. stop. i know itβs tempting; to peek your eyes open, to wiggle your fingers, to βtestβ if youβre still here. but that urgeΒ keeps you here. when you stop needing proof, thatβs when the shift happens. donβt askΒ βam i still here?β sayΒ βiβm already there.β
3. anchor intoΒ awareness, not the senses. instead of focusing on your physical body, focus on your consciousness. notice your thoughts. your presence. the part of you that justΒ is. when your senses flare up, say: π¦ΉΒ βthatβs just my body talking. i donβt need to answer.β
π¦ΉΒ βi can notice without identifying.β
4. embrace duality. you can feel your CRΒ andΒ be in your DR. you can exist in both places during the transition. some shifts are instant. others are layered. trust all versions. none are wrong.
5. shift from the inside out. instead of looking for change outside you,Β beΒ the change. feel your DR internally. decideΒ itβs real. and then let the rest catch up. because itΒ will.
HOW TO USE THIS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE
once youΒ stopΒ relying on your senses as the judge of reality, you unlock something powerful: freedom. because now youβre not waiting for a sign, youΒ areΒ the sign. and that means you can shift from anywhere, at any time, with no external confirmation needed.
hereβs how to turn this detachment into power:
1. declare before the senses catch up. instead of waiting for things toΒ feelΒ different,Β decideΒ that they already are. when you say βiβve already shifted,β say it with the confidence of someone who doesnβt need proof. your senses will follow your belief not the other way around.
2. allow reality to delay β without doubting. sometimes your consciousness shifts before your perception catches up. this is normal. use that gap to your advantage: treat every second after your decision as a confirmationΒ instead of a waiting room. youβre not waiting. youβreΒ settling in.
3. narrate over your senses. if you feel your CR bed? tell yourself,Β βthis is the last moment iβll ever feel this blanket here.β if you hear your fan?Β βthatβs just background noise. iβm already leaving.β own the narrative. hijack the meaning. create momentum with your words.
4. lean into imagination as reality. your DR already exists in consciousness. your senses just havenβt βloadedβ yet. visualize, script, or embody as if youΒ donβt needΒ anything external because you donβt. the more real it feels inside, the faster it becomes true outside.
5. thank your CR senses β and move on. you can say: π¦ΉΒ βthank you, body, but i donβt need your feedback anymore.β
π¦ΉΒ βiβm shifting now.β
when you stop fearing the lack of sensory change, it stops holding power over you. and then? shifting becomesΒ fluid.
your senses donβt get the final say. theyβre just noise β and youβre the silence beneath it. you areΒ notΒ behind. you areΒ notΒ doing it wrong. you are simply learning how to trust yourself louder than the world around you.
so the next time it feels like βnothing changedββ¦remind yourself: you already did.
