it's not the syllabus that gets you.

the syllabus is big, sure. but you figure out the syllabus. you make a plan, you cover chapters, you tick things off.

what actually gets you is the mental shift that needs to happen somewhere around October of your 12th year — the moment you realize that school taught you what to study but nobody ever sat down and told you how.

i spent three months reading the same Physics chapters over and over and genuinely could not understand why my test scores weren't moving. i was putting in the hours. i was showing up. i was doing everything i thought studying looked like.

turns out i was confusing being busy with making progress.

the actual unlock for me was two things —

one, stopping trying to do everything alone. finding people who could look at my work and tell me specifically where my thinking was going wrong. not just "this answer is wrong" but why it was wrong and what i was misunderstanding at the concept level.

two, testing myself constantly instead of re-reading notes. uncomfortable. humbling. also the only thing that actually worked.

if you're in the middle of 12th science right now and you feel like you're working hard but standing still — you're probably not broken. you're probably just missing the right structure around your effort.

that's a fixable problem.
