Last But Not Least

“We do? Have we not been making the most of it so far?” She teased.

“We do, and we have been, but this is your last semester! So we gotta double up on our efforts.”

“Uh,” Marissa looked at her, eyes wide. “Dude, I don’t even know.” 

“Great.” Dallas sighed. 

“Yeah. Probably something with Herbology, honestly,” Ben shrugged. He wasn’t sure of what time it was, but it seemed to be nearing midnight as he noticed the crowd migrate together in one large clump. There seemed to be more fireworks now, too. “Hey, uh, it’s probably a dumb question, but we’re gonna do that whole kiss at midnight thing, right?”

Dallas’s face broke into a wide smile. Her eyes sparkled and she nodded. “Yes.”

Taking a seat, Ben smiled at Dallas. “I think I have a knack for picking the best fireworks viewing points. Too bad you can’t make a career outta that.” 

“No, but I’m sure you’ll find something else you’re good at to do.” Dallas squeezed his hand.

“You can’t honestly be serious about this, Dally.”

“I never joke about chocolate.”

“Oh, please, you act like this is the first time I’ve done it.” Izzy laughed, waving off her concerns. “She definitely won’t know, I’ve got you covered.”

“Good. Then go for it.”

“I can apparate out. I’m of age.”

“Yes, but that’s the easy way out. What, where’s your sense of adventure, Ash?”

“Somewhere in Kentucky. I should go visit. Maybe I can get Nic to go with me.”

“Just be careful. I’d hate for you to get mauled by a dragon.”

Quinn let out a breath through her nose. “Oh true, true,” Quinn replied. “I vote we still do it.”

“Yeah, cause you wouldn’t have to live with the innocent one hating you if we do it.”

“Maybe over there?” Ben pointed to an area that was a little less crowded before taking Dallas’s hand to lead her that way.

Dallas didn’t really care where they watched the fireworks from as long as they did it together. She found herself skipping as Ben lead them to the spot. “Good choice,” she said when she noticed there were fewer people.

“You know what we’re gonna do? We’re gonna get a cat to piss on all their shit,” she said. “Is that a good idea?”
