In this year of 2026 we need more vampire-knight crossposting. Cmonnnnn. Hear me out here…
Maybe you’re some Joe Schmoe human knight, and your liege is a vampire. Maybe serving a vampire is the only way to advance in a vampire dominated society, so it’s like a quid-pro-quo thing like banging your boss. Maybe you’re doing it so you can become a vampire too. Maybe… you’re serving them so you can see them drop their guard so that you can go in for the kill on a famous monster, deep undercover type stuff, sprinkle a bit of enemies-to-lovers in there!
A few ways I could see being human liege with a vampire knight looking like…
Maybe you “inherited” the vampire, they’ve been around in this court serving your family for god knows how long. So while you’re the guy with the position, they’re the one guiding you with the real know-how. Lots of fun with power dynamics here.
Maybe the vampire made their way into your service more recently, and even though they’re a threatening monster that could tear you to shreds, take your throne, destroy the kingdom… and yet they remain loyal to you. Why? That’s between the two of you.
Maybe it’s more of an equals situation, with both you and the vampire being knights. Or you’re the vampire and somebody else is a human knight.
What if the human is the only one who knows their fellow knight is a vampire? The tension…
Maybe you’re rivals, and there’s a slight imbalance due to the vampire being stronger, but being outwitted by the puny human knight every time…
What if the vampire is tolerated in the court because of more dangerous threats to the realm being present. Both them and the human knight have to go on a quest together to fight one of said threats, and gets some quality alone time together…
Or, what if you’re both vampires. One may be a stronger, more humanoid form, the other being a more savage, or feral thrall type. Could be fun to play around with the various forms.
I dunno, just thinking about vampire knights.
