another history making marvel post I never see anyone talk about is “so is nobody helping blade kill all those vampires”
found it
update on comms progress also- i want to draw so bad but i have strained both of my trapezius muscles, sooo my shoulders, upper back, neck….. everything you need to lift things, carry stuff, sit upright…….
unfortunately i have to keep working my healthcare job what pays my rent but also requires i lift and carry many things, so a lot of my home time is spent sitting down with three different pillows to support myself and the necessary posture to drawl strains my neck and shoulders :// i am doing what i can in spurts but oughhhh
update i am out on workers comp and nothing has improved really! overall levels of pain are down because i'm not doing much, but i'm also not supposed to do repetitive motions, work at or above the shoulder, or lift anything over 2lbs. which is most things
another follow up on tuesday, right now we've done xrays and i'm waiting on a call from physical therapy. xrays show my neck is straight as a goddamn ruler and there's some narrowing between cervical facets
workers comp is a percentage of my pay, which already only just covers what i need, and i'm not sure what the future holds. i'm a little worried given the nature of this that my worker's comp claim may fall through, and if i can't do my present job like this i won't be able to keep it. times are strange and questionable, it would be kind of folks to help my art and commissions reach more people if at all possible

These gentle, 400-pound giants are splashing back from the brink of extinction.
Green sea turtles have been an iconic endangered species since the 1980s, mostly due to bycatch in fishing nets and taking adults and eggs for food. I have core childhood memories of watching Steve Irwin talk about sea turtle conservation in front of a beach full of nesting green sea turtles.
After 45 years of conservation efforts, their population now meets the IUCN criteria for Least Concern rather than Endangered.
For a species with such a slow life history (it takes green sea turtles decades to reach sexual maturity) and a nearly global population, this is a Really Big Deal. This is the kind of long term conservation victory that many of the amazing humans who started working on green sea turtle conservation back in the 80s didn't live to see.
Just because something isn't fixed right away doesn't mean it won't ever be fixed. Just because the work is slow doesn't mean it isn't worth doing.
no but the “”ai”” boom is crazy bc they made the entire internet so shitty that the only reason to use it is because it’s where all the people are and now they’re getting rid of the people. like i’m straight up logging off and going to the library there’s nothing on here anymore
‘here’s how to tell if an image is ai’ ‘signs the person you’re talking to is a bot’ ‘how to tell if a song is ai generated’ ah but consider this: i am shutting my laptop and walking outside
I saw a bsky post last year where someone said their grandma couldn't tell what was real on the internet anymore so she stopped using it and I really, genuinely think the techbros currently ruining everything have never even considered that possibility. their projections and pie charts and market share research and whatever simply do not take into account a scenario where people lose interest in being online. like yeah we're pretty much all gonna keep using the internet to book travel and look up words and order pizza, but in terms of how we spend our leisure time? I'm still extremely online, but in the last few years I've been learning candlemaking and carpentry and sewing, and I was already spending a lot of time cooking and reading books and skating at the rink and hiking, and an afternoon spent on any of those things always leaves me feeling better about myself than an afternoon spent doomscrolling. I think my daily life is going to keep reflecting that more and more as the slop encroaches, and it sounds like I'm far from the only one feeling that way. silver lining to everything, I suppose.

So if I’m understanding it right, this is basically the equivalent of stopping by a coworker’s house to pick up something and next they disappear and their toddler comes out of some room with a sticky toy phone and hands it to you and you’re just left there like an idiot like UHHHM THAT’S NICE and THANK YOU? and also ANYWAY IS YOUR DAD AWAKE YET? HELLO? ANYONE? and walking into a door as you try to get away.
Also the whole thing is super interesting?
Some cold, wet mornings, you’ll find the hornbill, sitting atop the termite mound that the Mongoose have taken refuge in over night, waiting for it’s band of companions to rouse. A little impatiently it seems, it sometimes taps on the mound, quite insistently. Before long, the band of mongoose start to emerge from the warm interior, ready to start searching for a morsel or two.
As they forage through the shrubs and grass, the hornbill perches on branches above, snapping up any unfortunate insects, disturbed by the mongoose. What does the mongoose get out of this, apart from a rude awakening? Well, since the hornbill gets an easy meal, the mongoose gets in return, greater safety that the hornbill’s higher vantage point gives them. Should the hornbill spot something dangerous, an eagle or another ground predator, it will utter an alarm calls, sending the mongoose scurrying to the nearest shelter.
This is known as mutualism. Both species are benefiting from the other with neither being negatively affected.

hello to all the beautiful exhausted intelligent resentful compassionate irritated women of the internet i love you
I want to make you feel like a humid Southern night, where the Spanish moss drips from the trees like lace, and honeysuckle buds perfume the air. Sticky, glistening skin. Sultry and forever.
and fifty dozen mosquitos are sucking your body dry and cicadas scream so loud you can never sleep and watch where your honeysuckle ass steps or you’ll plant your foot on a pissed off copperhead
One person is from the south. One person isn’t. Guess which.
“I want to make you feel like a humid Southern night” is a threat
I think about The Man of the Hole so often. 27 years alone. 27 years with no one to speak to but strangers to wave to. Survived a genocide, a massacre that killed everyone he had ever known and later, an assassination attempt. He still tried to warn researches about the traps he built. He was only about 60 when he died in 2022. The people who tormented him in life later desecrated his grave.
I do think it is important to share the stories of the Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island and Ishi and the countless other indigenous people who experienced the profound trauma of being the last survivor but it is important to remember that the last Aboriginal families in Australia to be contacted by Europeans were resettled in the 1980s and the Indian government has proposed a plan that will mean total genocide for the Shompen people. The total eradication of indigenous peoples, their cultures, their languages, their ways of life, is not something which occurred in a distant ugly past but an ongoing process.
how to commit to the bit properly
Hello everyone! after a couple of months of work on this beast of a thing, the first draft of my promised writeup on understanding composition is finally ready! This badboy is almost 15,000 words, and over 150 pages long. In these images, you can see a couple of examples of the kind of subject matter I’ll be covering, but it’s very comprehensive.
This is currently available on my Patreon starting at just $2!
I think what I offer is a pretty unique take on composition, and it’s geared to be understood without a lot of consideration for the more finnicky technical elements of drawing, so if that’s part of art you have trouble with you might find some answers in my approach. Using my own art and examples from various disciplines and eras, I break down how to understand why a composition does - or doesn’t - work, all building to a toolset that lets you have control over your own compositions with precision and intent.
A sincere thank you to anyone who takes the time to look at it, and at the end of the day, always remember one fundamental rule of art:

“What if poor people abuse the system?”
The system intrinsically abuses poor people.
Hope this helps.
"What if poor people abuse the system?"
Rich people abuse the system far more and out of pure greed, not necessity or desperation so idrc about that
