Here is a 3D “ball and stick” model of Benzene (C6H6) I’ve created in Meshmixer. Surprisingly, this model was easy to produce in the Meshmixer program. Meshmixer has pre-existing geometric shapes that can be used to assemble the separate pieces together. I chose to do a chemical compound because it is commonly found in natural gases that relate to math, science, and nature. 

I believe that this is an example of a well-designed Sketchup file of a dream treehouse. This treehouse shows a modern touch compared to the “traditional” treehouse designed for children. In this file, it features a house with luxurious components such as a kitchen, terrace, and jacuzzi integrated within the branches of a tree. 

Dr. Michael Scherer, D.M.D gives an example of a reconstructed bite programmed in Autodesk Meshmixer, Blender, and Netfabb Basic. What I find interesting about this is how practical and efficient this CAD software truly is. He shows just how easy it is to manipulate wax molds, crowns, and bridges. It’s crazy how 3D programs primarily used for visual art, could also be used for the workspace. 

Here is an example of an architecture design originating from CAD software on the computer. This program enables artists to accomplish sculptures in 3D space with control, accuracy, and efficiency. 

3D video mapping is a unique medium that creates an optical illusion onto a large building as the ‘canvas’. Projected video animations require high-demanding software to produce interactive displays such as this. One of the most common projection mappings is seen at the Disney amusement parks.

“A copy, no matter how perfect is never really the same as the original, since its context is always shifting. And since we exist in history, our perspective is always shifting, too.” I believe that taking an original piece of art is technically not ‘copying’ artwork. Instead, it is creating new potential for advancing art. As Picasso says, “Good artist borrow. Great artists steal.”

This is arguably one of the most valid articles I’ve read recently. Murray points out how the Internet truly is “the world’s most efficient copying machine.” He mentions a famous artist, Duchamp, who is known to challenge the very idea of “original” art stating that it allows for endless possibilities. In addition, “remixes” have been quite prevalent in the modern age. The same concept of taking an original idea, adding a twist, and sharing it with the world can also be applied to memes. Memes have been around since Richard Dawkins (1976) had proposed cultural evolution developed through this method. of communication.  

Tim Hawkinson, Blastula, 1999. This piece of art appears to be an eye. However, the eye is completely made of latex and various pens. I think this is interesting how the artist thought to take an everyday item to use to sculpt. Also, the term ‘blastula’ refers to the early stages of development in an animal embryo as a hollow ball of cells. The “eye” takes a similar shape of what a ‘blastula’ would be. 

Space Jam tells the alternate story of NBA all-star Michael Jordan comeback in 1995 after his retirement in 1993 with the help of the Looney Tunes crew to win a basketball match against aliens trying to overtake their amusement park. Space Jam is the mash of the famously marketed athlete Michael Jordan and the worldwide franchised Looney Tunes.

This meme started as an image of a boy from a yearbook. Then, it became a way to show various types of “bad luck”, one of which is having STDs. In this case, this mashup meme combines pop cultured “bad luck Brian” with the popular Pokemon slogan “Gotta catch ‘em all” as a way to express catching STDs. 

J.R. Schmidt creates 3D Illustrations using polygon shapes in order to create geometrical landscapes (e.g. “The Low-Poly Look,” where objects appear fragmented, faceted, and obviously composed of their base components: vertices, edges, and polygons). His unique style of art has attracted many as he moves away from other popular graphic artists and Pixar-like art. Schmidt has begun to apply motion graphics with his art to produce something less like a photo, and more towards art that has a different appeal to the audience. 

The world is interconnected. Paula Scher creates a colorful illustration of the networks around the world. She shows the various paths that may suggest travel, communication, or a reminder that the world is a big place. We are all trying to find our own way. 

Both of these respective artists (Yoichiro Kawaguchi; Camille Utterback) feature their works of Interactive Art which involve the spectator to be a part of the composition. Interestingly, these works are constantly evolving and each interaction will have a different result. 

Yoichiro Kawaguchi’s Paradise “Growth” in Zero Gravity, 2017 presents highly unusual organic forms in 8K high definition resolution. Kawaguchi has been one of the leading artists in developing new possibilities in the digital media field. As a result, he has reimagined the art of genetic life and our interaction with it.

A creation of mine that came out of absolutely nowhere. College is a place that cultivates passion and determination to figure out who you are, but it’s also scary and stressful. I wanted to make something simple, yet powerful. Let this be a reminder. Enjoy a Coke. Share Happiness. Spread love.
