Garmin Challenge Walking Expeditions Done!
In April 2023 Garmin introduced expedition challenges for both walking and climbing. For the walking challenges, they are based on real world trails, and once signed up to 1 (you can only do one at a time) then every step, walk, or hike you take counts towards the challenge. There are a LOT of challenges from Camino de Santiago (784km), The West Highland Way (154km) to the mosterous Appalachian Trail (3500km).
Well today I finished my last trail, The Transvilanica (1400km) and thereby conquered every walking expedition challenge.
Whilst these challenges are met by any step activity, I did find them mildly motivational. Those times when I could just jump in the car, and I elected to walk instead. Looking at the distances it's a fasir number to have completed in a cople of months under 3 years.
The total challenge list looks like this:
Appalachian Trail: ~3,500 km (2,175 miles)
Via Transilvania: ~1,400km (870 miles)
Camino de Santiago: ~784 km (487 miles)
Rheinsteig Trail: ~320 km (199 miles)
Annapurna Circuit: ~260 km (161 miles)
Mont Blanc Circular (Tour Du Mont Blanc): ~160 km (99 miles)
West Highland Way: ~154 km (95 miles)
Patagonia Circuit: ~120 km (74 miles)
Cradle Mountain Overland Track: ~65 km (40 miles)
Everest Base Camp Trek: ~62 km (38 miles)
Kilimanjaro Machame Route: ~62 km (38 miles)
Toubkal Circuit: ~60 km (37 miles)
Chilkoot Trail: ~53 km (33 miles)
Milford Track: ~53 km (33 miles)
Inca Trail: ~40 km (25 miles)
Grand Canyon Rim Trail: ~21 km (13 miles)
Great Wall: ~20 km (12.5 miles)
I'm still doing the climing challenges and have about 1 1/2 badges to go, but it's relaitively hilly here so I should have those cracked by the end of this year I hope.
I'm just hoping Garmin adds a few more chasllenge expeditions as they were fun to participate in.
