the newest WIP he posted is so bad 😭 that’s not how bats look, mf looks like how the dinos look in the good dinosaur i’m sorry. same guy who said “weh weh study the basics and other things before saying stuff about MY art” and doesn’t even do studies himself.

you can keep your anatomy studies private, but oh my god salem you really need to try and study how to do anatomy properly, since you’re so chronically online there’s the internet archive that has several anatomy book PDFs, including morpho. also for the love of god CHANGE THE BRUSH YOU’RE USING. the digital pen on ibispaint can be fun to use once in a while but if used at the bare minimum size it makes the art look like a compressed JPEG at times. his lineart always irked me, not because i like switching up the brushes i use when drawing (i use the same software he does), but goddamn he used to use different brushes in the “wolftingz” era, i actually prefer some of his older art because it actually looked good, and most of his characters didn’t lose their features (i.e. heather’s older designs had thick locs and she just generally looked so much better). he says his characters are a reflection of his blackness when he europeanized like 99% of them.

also, i’m going to preface this with the fact that colleges are different depending on which one you go to.

but with that said, i’ve seen black art students make wonderful artwork that isn’t “whitewashed” like salem says. i’ve seen final projects and short films by black artists who are in art school. there are historically black art colleges in ATLANTA. there’s Spelman, SCAD, and Morehouse. me when i’m in a “doesn’t do their fucking research” competition and my opponent is salem. the state he lives in has a large black population, but he doesn’t go the fuck outside to see it and chooses to complain.

pet peeve but I hate when paw pads are depicted like markings or just patches without fur. theyre pillowy!! it looks weird when flat!!!

the batgirl is just a generic "bat" too. no cool nose and teeth too big so cant be a micro bat and especially not a vampire bat, ears way too large to be a flying fox.

i dont know how to tell you, bats arent a single species or a genus, they arent even a single familia, they are an entire order. you know what else is an order in taxonomy? carnivora and herbivora. this is the same thing as me saying I have a carnivore OC and not elaborating further and then its just a weird mish-mash of cats, dogs, bears, raccoons, badgers, etc.

ALSO THE STITCHING I THINK IS MEANT TO BE HYSTERECTOMY SCARRING BUT IT LOOKS LIKE AN ACTIVE WOUND??? IF IT IS AND IF YOU HAVE AN ACTIVELY HEALING WOUND YOU DO NOT TAKE IT TO THE BEACH WHERE THERES IRRITANTS. WHERES THE DRAINAGE, WHERES THE BANDAGE ON TOP TO PROTECT FROM IRRITANTS??? if its actual scars id much rather it got stylized as interconnected diamonds or something. the actual stitches when they get taken out or dissolve (bc that does happen as a part of the procedure) usually dont leave any visible scarring at all!
