Could I request a Josh Faraday x reader where she is either Vasquez or Goodnightâs sister and her and Josh have a thing going on. I love the Vasquez and Billy ones you did haha <3 Â Â Â
âNow just take it slow.â Josh instructed you as you tipped the lip of the bottle back on your lips and gulped down a mouthful of the whiskey before flinching and hacking.
âI told you to take it slow now!â Josh laughed and patted your back as you coughed. âYou canât just toss it back like a shot.â
You always watched Faraday gulp down the liquor like he was a fish but you now figured he must be used to it by now.
âI guess this stuff but be a bit strong for your down home southern sensibilitiesâ He teased and took a swing himself, swallowing it without issue.
âYou hush up Joshua Faradayâ you coughed a final time.
âAwe babyâ He cooed and pulled you into his lap. âDonât be mad, here watchâŚâ He pulled out his card deck and began to cut and shuffle them with expert precision. âSeeâ
You scoffed at his attempt to distract you as if you were a child and slipped off his lap.
âI wonder what my brother would say if he knew about you coaxing hard liquor down his baby sisterâs throat.â You noted with a hint of knowing in your voice.
âWell maybe Goodnight ought have thought twice before bringing his Bee-utiful sister around men like me.â Josh countered and come up behind you.
âAnd what sort of man are you Joshua Faraday?â You inquired and looked up at him as he wrapped a strong arm around your waist.
âWellâ he looked out over your shoulder, at the town he was supposed to save. âI ainât exactly a good one.â
You hummed and pushed yourself back into his solid chest before hearing a the tell tale stamp of boots in dirt around the building.
Scrambling you pushed off of him and sat on the wooden porch with your skirt spread around you .
Billy sauntered up the steps and eyed the two of you before settling on you. âY/N, Goodnight sent me to check in on you.â
You rolled your eyes with a huff.
âIâm fineâ you assured him. âMr. Faradayâs been keeping me company.â
âYesâ Billy eyed Faraday, âI know, thatâs why I was sent to check inâ
You scoffed and laughed a little.
âCome on, before youâre legs get stuck to that porchââ Billy offered his hand and you reluctantly took it and followed him off the porch, turned a moment to look at Josh and toss him a coy wink.
âTilâ later, Mr. Faradayâ
Josh tipped his hat politely. âMiss Robicheaux, always a pleasureâ
Billy towed you away quickly, ready to relay his observations to Goodnight.

When Sam Chisolm walked through the doors of your inn, followed by his six companions, you knew your life was about to change, you just werenât quite sure how yet.
âSam.â You greeted with a fond smile, which he gladly returned, stepping towards you and pulling you into a hug.
âY/n, good to see you again.â He said when stepping away from you.
âSo, what do I owe the honor of Sam Chisolm and his friends.â You asked with genuine curiosity.
Sam smiled at you âJust looking for a place to lay low for a bit, get rested. And I happened to remember that a friend of mine lived close by.â
You nodded your head âUh-huh.â You ran your eyes over the six other men who had entered your inn, crowding the rather small entry area.
Your eyes lingered on an older gentleman leaning against the door, he had his eyes trained on you and a smile on his face. When you locked eyes he titled his head slightly in greeting. Your eyes landed on the red stain seeping through the shoulder of his jacket, blood.
His, or anotherâs you couldnât help but wonder. âYouâre not gonna bring trouble down on me again are you Sam Chisolm?â You asked with a mixture of seriousness and a joking tone.
âNot if I can help it.â He answered honestly.
âWell then, come on in.â You said turning with a smile and walking into the main room, the seven men followed âIâll get you some rooms ready, and have the cook make up some food for you gentlemen.â
âThatâs mighty kind of you, thank you.â The tall stocky man in the back said, his voice did not match his appearance nor his reputation, and it caught you off guard, but you gave him a small nod and smile.
âAre you going to introduce yourselves or am I going to have to guess who you all are?â You asked, looking around at the others.
âWell I thought our reputations might have preceded us.â A man said as he leaned against the counter. Short red hair, blue eyes and a flirty smile, you looked to his hands and saw him toying with a playing card. âJoshua Faraday.â He said with a wink
Sam rolled his eyes a bit before he motioned to the others, one at a time âVasquez. Jack Horne, Red Harvest, Billy Rocks and Goodnight Robicheauxâ He listed off their names one after the other.
Taking out seven keys, you began to hand them out âQuite the group you got yourself here.â
Goodnight walked up to you and Sam. âNow that you know who we are, who might you be? Sam has told us very little.â He spoke smoothly and with a kind smile as he watched you closely.
You turned fully towards him and smiled politely âY/n L/n, at your service.â You nodded your head a bit before walking away from them âIâm going to inform the cook that we have visitors in need of food.â Stopping you turned back and locked eyes with Goodnight âMr Robicheaux, is that blood on your jacket from someone else, or are you in need of care?â
Goodnight glanced down at his chest and smiled âI assure you Iâm alright-â
âHeâs not.â Billy broke in, his voice serious.
You looked from Billy to Goodnight âAlright then. I will bring you some bandages up to your room momentarily.â You said before rounding the corner, leaving Goodnight to look at Billy with a glare of annoyance.
- - -
Knocking on Goodnightâs door, you entered after you heard him call out. Stepping into the room, you see him now standing at the window, staring out. He was wearing no shirt, but had a rag pressed to his shoulder, now red from blood. You frowned in concern as you set your tray of supplies down.
Goodnight smiled at you âThank you very kindly.â Seeing you begin to unwrap the bandages he took a few steps closer âYou need not worry yourself with me, I assure you I can handle it.â
âNonsense.â You replied quickly yet softly âIâve dealt with much worse.â He met your eyes and you saw his gaze soften lightly âIâd appreciate it if youâd let me help you Mr Robicheaux.â
A soft smile graced his lips as he took a step closer, he leaned his head a bit closer and spoke a bit softer, a gleam of gaiety in his eyes âOnly if you call me Goodnight.â
You smiled at him âIf that is what it takes Mr-...Goodnight.â
His smile widened as he sat down on the edge of the bed. You sat on the other side of him and began to clean his wound. Goodnight couldnât help but watch you as you did so. He noted the delicate features of your face, as well as the determined gaze in your eyes and the careful movement of your hands. Youâve clearly dealt with wounds before. There was more to you than met the eye, and Goodnight found himself inclined to learn just all there was.
- - - - -
In the five days that the seven had been staying in your inn, you grew fond of all of them, and you liked to believe they thought the same of you. The longer you learned of their adventures together, the more you wished you had been there. You had been dormant for a long time, and began to miss travelling and adventure.
You and Sam told them all about how you had met, how you hadnât always been inn keeper, but instead a rookie bounty hunter that worked alongside Sam for a bit before he became a true professional. After a few too many close calls with death, you took to being a business owner, and housing wanderers and the occasional outlaw. But you had grown bored. And now, with the seven, you began to grow restless, and you were sure Sam noticed. Part of you wanted to ask if you could tag along with them for a while, but you were afraid he would reject you, refusing to let you come.
Besides the want for adventure, you also hated goodbyeâs, especially to friends. And the more you spent time the seven, and especially with Goodnight, the harder you thought goodbye might be. Goodnight had grown on you much more than the others. You thought him charming, kind, funny and impressive. Goodnight seemed to share an interest in you, but you feared you might be mistaking his casual flirting and need for company as genuine affection. You feared you might be making a fool of yourself.
âA lot on your mind?â A voice broke you from your thoughts.
Turning away from the window, you smile at Sam as he approached you âI suppose.â You replied.
Sam came and stood next to you and looked out the window âHeâs taken quite the liking to you you know?â
Following his line of sight, you see Goodnight, Billy, Joshua and Vasquez all standing in the front, practicing with their guns. You let out a small laugh âWhich one?â
Sam chuckled âWell actually, Iâm pretty sure they all have. But, there is one more than the other. And I think, perhaps, the feelings arenât quite one sided.â You shyly met Samâs eyes and he smiled softly at you âIâve known both of you for quite some time, and Iâd be lying if I said I didnât see why. Or, that you two would be well suited for one another.â
You felt your heart begin to beat faster as he spoke, and looking out at Goodnight, you let out a sigh âHow can you sound so sure?â You asked softly, clear uncertainty in your voice.
âI guess I just know these things.â Sam said casually, before he patted you on the shoulder lightly, and turned to leave. You looked back out the window and watched Goodnight for a few more moments, getting lost in thought all over again.

The rest of the day went smoothly as you enjoyed the company of the seven, as well as some alone time when they went into town. And now, you looked up at the partly cloudy sky as you finished bringing in some clothes from the clothesline. There was a cool breeze blowing that seemed to comfort your distracted mind. As you stared off to the horizon, you were unaware of Goodnight watching you from the doorway.
He had a fond smile on his face as he watched you close your eyes and relish in the cool breeze. Finally he broke the silence âBeautiful day isnât it?â
Your eyes shot open as you turned to the sound of Goodnight's voice. When you saw him leaning casually against the doorway with a smile on his face, you wondered how long he had been there. The thought that he might have been watching you for some time sent heat rising up your neck.
Ignoring this, you smiled at him âYes, it is.â Goodnight pushed himself off the door and left the doorway, walking up to you. âHowâs your shoulder?â You asked as he did.
He smiled âFeels just fine, thanks to you.â He said with a nod of his head and a bright crooked smile.
âGood, Iâm glad.â
Goodnight adjusted his stance a bit, seemingly thinking of what he was going to say. Meeting your eyes he smiled, but with an obvious apprehension behind them âWould you do me a favor Y/n?â He asked finally.
You nodded, straightened up a bit âOf course.â
He smiled, feeling a bit more confident âGo on a walk with me?â
You were a bit thrown off by this, having expected him to ask a chore of you. But his question instead made you nervous with excitement. You smiled a bit âWhere to?â
He smiled in response before taking a step away from you and holding out his arm for you to take âI suppose youâll see soon enough.â
You squinted and gave him a quizzical stare before slowly looping your arm through his. You were apprehensive, but knowing Goodnight would do you no harm, you took the chance and began to walk with him, letting him lead the way.
You walked away from the town and into the small wooded area nearby. Having often walked through this area in the evenings, you knew it well. You and Goodnight had walked in a comfortable silence as he led you to a small worn out path, one you knew as well. Clearing his throat he finally spoke âI wanted to thank you, for all you had done for us while we were here.â
You shook your head and smiled at him âThere is no need to thank me Goodnight. Iâm glad to have helped. Sam has been a good friend; and Iâm glad to have made even more.â
Goodnight smiled âIâm glad to have met you Y/n, very much so.â
You felt butterflies in your stomach as he smiled at you, and even more when he took your hand in his and turned, pulling you along gently off the path and through to a clearing. âWhere are you taking me?â You asked with a small laugh.
Just as you asked, you stepped out into the clearing and spotted a small blanket in the grass. On it was a wicker basket. âI wanted to show my appreciation for what you've done for me, and, also to...well, in all honesty I just wanted to be alone with you.â He finally admitted as he turned to you.
A smile broke out on your face as you realized what he was doing âA picnic?â You had clever glee on your face as you looked at the scene
âI thought you might like it.â Goodnight said, glad to have elicited such a reaction, whatever nervousness he had been feeling leaving him.
Leading you over to the blanket you couldnât help the small laugh that bubbled out of you âHonestly, I wouldnât have expected this from you.â
Goodnight let out an almost offended scoff, but it was laced with amusement âIâll have you know, I am not only a gentleman, but a romantic as well.â
You laughed at this as you sat down beside him on the blanket. âWell that I could have assumed.â Admiring the setup of the picnic as Goodnight handed you a glass for a drink you smiled âThis is my first picnic.â
Goodnight smiled as he poured your drink into your glass. âThough that is a shame, I consider myself honored to bring you on your first. Iâve known a great deal of wonderful things to happen at picnics.â He spoke smoothly with a flirty tone.
After sharing a drink and some food that Goodnight bribed the inn cook to make for him, you found yourself sitting side by side, shoulders pressed together as Goodnight told you a story. An almost unbelievable one at that, but, you listened intently as he did so, enjoying the sound of his voice as he spoke.
When he finished and turned to you, he watched proudly as you stifled some laughter. His eyes scanned over your face and he found himself wanting to be even closer to you. He accepted that he had grown to adore you, and hated the idea of leaving and not seeing you again. Something he brought up to Sam and Billy, both of whom saw it coming a mile off.
As your laughter faltered, you let out a breathy sigh, still amused from his story. But when you looked to Goodnight and saw a serious look on his face, your smile fell and was replaced with concern âWhat is it Goodnight?â
Slowly, Goodnight brought up his hand to your face. He stroked his thumb across your cheek gently before taking it away. Sitting up a bit he stared intently into your eyes âHow would you like to come with us?â
You thought your jaw might have fallen off had you not had more control over yourself. You shook your head slightly âWhat?â
âWith the others and I, I mean. Come with us. We all discussed it, and all of us are open to it if you are.â
âIs this Samâs idea?â You asked, your heart dropping a bit.
Goodnight shrugged his shoulders. âHe certainly had a hand in it, but Iâm the one who first brought it up.â
âYou are?â You asked, more curious and hopeful now.
He nodded âYes. I-â he hesitated for a moment âWell to be frank, I've fallen quite hard for you Y/n, and I canât stand the idea of leaving without you now. So, Iâll ask again, will you come with us...Will you come with me.?â
As you processed his words your entire being was filled with an array of emotions you couldnât control, but the most dominant than the rest was the pure rush of excitement. They all wanted you to come with them, and Goodnight felt just as you did. Part of you was convinced you were dreaming.
Smiling brightly at Goodnight, you nodded your head fervently âIâll come with you Goodnight.â
Goodnight grinned with relief and excitement, and before he could stop himself he leaned towards you, fervently kissing you, bringing his hand to your face as he did so. You were surprised by the sudden kiss, but leaned fully into it a moment later. When you both ran out of breath, you pulled away, smiling childishly at each other as you pressed your foreheads together.
Goodnight let out a small chuckle âI told you wonderful things happen at picnics.â

Faraday screamed as he started awake in his room, only to find Goodnight sitting in the only chair and reading a book.
#firstsentacefic
âJeez-sus, the hell you think you youâre doing lurkinâ in the corner like thatâyouâre lucky I didnât shoot you between the gotâdamn eyes,â he cursed.
Goodnight licked his finger and turned the page, unbothered. This wasnât the first time heâd been on the receiving end of Faradayâs empty threats.
âAn idiot drunk I know dragged me up here at gunpoint, demandinâ I read him a bedtime story. The book wasnât half bad so I figured I might as well see how it ends.â

Imagine you have a coworker who likes to bake. Every week, they bring in a batch of delicious, homemade cookies and leave them in the break room. Next to the plate of cookies is a sign, âIf you like my cookies, could you please just leave me a note and tell me what you like about them? The more feedback you leave about what you like, the more incentive I have to bake.â A hundred coworkers walk by and take a cookie. One person leaves a note. âGreat cookies! Bake some more soon!â
The next week, once again there are cookies in the break room with the same sign. Once again a hundred people take a cookie and only one person leaves a note. âNice! More soon!â
Week Three- Once again, a hundred people take a cookie. No one leaves a note.
Week Four- One hundred people take a cookie. No note.
Week Five- There are no cookies. Someone leaves a note. âWhere are the cookies? I loved them. Please, please bake some cookies.â
Week Six- There are no cookies. Ten people leave notes. âI miss your cookies. They were my favorites. I loved the chocolate chips. My friend really liked the way you had almonds in the cranberry ones.â
Week Seven- Motivated by the wonderful notes, the baking coworker stays up late to bake the best batch of cookies they have ever made. That week, a hundred people take a cookie. No one leaves a note.Â
The co-worker gives up baking for their colleagues.
Please, if you like the fan fiction that you are reading, let your authors know. Stories are abandoned for a myriad of reasons, but it is very, very hard to stay motivated when you receive no positive feedback. If there is a story that you like, whether it is a completed one or a work in progress, please leave an up-lifting comment or review. By doing so, youâre providing that writer with motivation to spend their time and energy creating more stories for you.
C'mon now...even if Chris Pratt were to attempt to act the role/voice the most diabolical and heartless villian that people will scornfully want to hate, we'd still end up loving his villian character ngl!!! đđđ

A/N: Inspired by that wonderful video of Chris Pratt doing a magic trick with Will I Am
The steam made Y/Nâs muscles weep with gratitude, them now deciding to finally shut down after over exerting all day. She dipped a hand in the water to test the temperature, watching the grime and blood wash away. Â Her callous hands were almost unrecognizable to her when they werenât so dirty that you canât see skin underneath.
âThat for me?â Her eyes rolled on their own accord, not having the energy to turn her head Faradayâs way. It was times like these when she wished she had turned down his offer of his charming company in exchange for a roof over his head. She was in no mood for his boyish grin, eyes alight with mischief
âIâve had a long day dealing with assholes. Donât make me regret taking one in my home.â His brow furrowed for a brief second, concern seeping through his facade as he noticed the blood.
âYou alright?â
âYeah.â Y/N sighed. âJob didnât go as easy as I expected. Iâm exhausted.â That was an understatement. She wasnât even sure if she could make it into the tub.
âWell I ainât here to jusâ stand here and look pretty.â Â Her mouth formed an âoâ shape as his hands suddenly dug into her shoulders, kneading out the knots that materialized from a hard day. She moaned as he worked a tight one out, and her eyes opened as he cleared his throat, suddenly uncomfortable.
âDamn. If this makes you moan then we should-â
âShut the hell up, Faraday.â Y/N groaned again as he started rubbing a good spot. âIf only I could get in the tub, this would be amazing.â
âWell if I may-â Faraday remarked innocently as he reached around to unbutton her blouse. His hands froze as the cold metal of her gun poked into his side. âJust tryinâ ta help.â
âAppreciated. But Finneganâs the jealous type.â
âYou named your gun Finnegan?â
âYou donât name yours?â
âShould I?â He sighed. âLook, I know I can be a pain in the ass so just let me help. I promise not to do anything youâre uncomfortable with.â
Y/N stared into his eyes, looking for any insincerity. When she found none she nodded. He helped her out of her clothes, gaze lingering appreciatively in some places, even the scars. Rolling her eyes she had to grasp his chin for the third time so his lovestruck gaze could find her eyes.
âYou have nice skin.â She snorted at the outburst. He had a hunger in his eyes but she was too tired to patronize him for it. As she relaxed in the tub her eyes fluttered closed when his hands once again massaged her shoulders. Her mouth opened in surprise when his lips trailed kisses across her shoulder.
â I donât know about you, but Iâd like to see where this thing between us goes.â
âSure you can stay honest?â She kept her voice steady despite her nerves.
âFor you? Only a fool wouldnât.â
âHmm.â Her soapy fingers drew patterns on his hand.
âHow about this, we play a little thing called Burn emâ. If I guess your card, you have to give me a chance.â
âSure.â She sighed, might as well get this over with. He pulled out his deck and began shuffling before putting them in three separate piles on the side of the tub, hand jolting to steady them when they started to wobble. Her teeth bit her bottom lip to keep from laughing.
âOkay, now take the first card out of the middle pile and put it face up on the left pile. Good, now the right pile. Okay, take a card from the middle pile- donât let me see it! Iâll close my eyes. Commit the card to memory and when youâre ready, put it back in the middle pile.â
Her eyes narrowed at the hand thrown over his eyes and she made sure she there was no possible way he could see her card. Queen of hearts. She put it in the middle of the pile, purposely wetting the other cards to throw him off.
âOkay.â An eye peeked through his fingers, before removing them to grab the middle pile.
âWow, that was unnecessary. That was my favorite deck.â
âAlright, alright, hold your horses. Now your card is somewhere inside that deck.â He put all three piles together before starting to shuffle them.
âWait, I want to do it.â An uncontrollable smile broke out on her face as his eyes widened.
âJee-sus help me.â She knew his forlorn demeanor was just an act. With much less dramatic flare, she began to shuffle them. Out of the corner of her eye she saw him wince at her poor attempts, but she feigned innocence as she tried to cram some between the other half.
âMâkay.â
He began looking through the sopping deck, making grunts and muttering under his breath.
âHmmâŚnopeâŚnot that oneâŚthatâs not itâŚ.Oh I feel itâŚitâs a cominââŚlike someone will be toni-hey!â
Faraday pouted, unable to rub his sore arm. âAh-hah! Your card, madam.â
âNope.â He let the top one fall away to reveal another.
ââŚyour card!â
âNo.â
âYour card?â
âNo.â
âCan I get a hint?â
âIt was a Queen of something.â
âHuh. Here, make a fist.â
âTo punch you with for trying to get me into your bed with a magic trick? That youâve used on countless other girls?â
âNo, just-just make a fist.â His brow creased in concentration as he worked in a handful of cards between her closed fingers. His hand was suddenly a blur as he smacked all but one into the water. The one left in her fist was the Queen of hearts. Y/N struggled to keep a straight face at his goofy smile.
âNo.â His jaw dropped open.
âWha-Yes it is!â
âNope. Sorry.â She nearly snickered when he began scrambling for the ones in the water mumbling, âIâve done this one a thousand times-â
When he heard a snort he looked up and sagged against the tub, shaking his head..
âUgh, Iâm rethinking this business proposition.â His chin rested on the cold porcelain while his hand grazed her knee in the water.
âCouldnât resist. But hey, if you still want me, you won fair and square. I hope.â Y/N barely got the sentence out before two hands closed around her cheeks, pulling her to his lips. She threw her arms around his neck as he pulled her out of the tub to land on top of him.

Still laughing about the fact that Faradayâs the kind of guy who understands statistics but not syllables. Guess knowing stats comes in handy with gamblingâŚ
Two theories, both of which I think fit Faraday as a trickster whoâs not quite as slick as he thinks he is:
1) Heâs got more education than he lets on, but downplays it because it doesnât line up with the persona heâs crafted for himself and itâs to his advantage that people underestimate him.
2) He doesnât have much, if any, formal schooling, but he can parrot things heâs overheard to play a part, and does it pretty well so long as heâs not called upon to demonstrate in any depth.
(Weâve also go the deleted scene with Horne, where Faraday talks about âall those booksâ heâs read about Horneâs exploits, when, really, Faraday doesnât jump out as someone whoâs much of a reader at first look.)
Itâs just a matter of deciding who Faraday was bs-ing at and who he slipped up with - Goodnight and Jack, or Sam during shooting practice. ;)
I find 2 convincing - that âstatistically speakingâ is a phrase heâs come across and now deploys in the right situation, like with Sam, but heâs not that educated in general.
Reading about Jack doesnât seem to me too out of character with that, as there was a whole genre of exploration/wilderness exploits stories about great pioneer types which was popular in its appeal; there was a difference between that and highbrow literature.
Agreed with Font, Iâm more inclined to go with option two. Faradayâs good enough at reading people/crowds to bluff in situations like those described.
âthat âstatistically speakingâ is a phrase heâs come across and now deploys in the right situationâ
I totally buy this, and Iâm not sure why it never occurred to me before. I think the idea fits his character - heâs not so much educated as he is perceptive, and a good parrot. Â
Thanks for the new head canon, yâall! <3 Best fandom ever.
