I feel like I could really put myself in her shoes – I always felt like the least intelligent, least athletic, least pretty sister of the group. I have never however, gone on a honeymoon with the best man because everyone else in the party got food poisoning. I would have food poisoning along with everyone else. You do not get the figure I have by being picky. This book is… yes another slow burn enemies to lovers. Read the bookstagram y’all – it’s my favorite trope! #TheLoveHypothesis @alihazelwood Listened to via @audible It’s funny to me that I am reviewing this after the soulmate equation because these books just make a happy little hug for me. First off, I love the name Olive – it brings me such joy. Who gave Ali Hazlewood the RIGHT to give me literal butterflies while listening to this story? It’s not as much spice as some of my other reads / listens but I think there should be a spice subcategory. Isn’t it so much better when it’s real? And maybe even a little awkward? I think so! Overall I loved Adam and Olive’s story and really I wanted more! Jess is a single mama and that is where the relating to her for me ends. Well, actually just being a mom (I have a very wonderful husband). I want to be that person that understands the DNA and statistics of things and I just.. am not but that’s part of why this was such an escape for me! Jess’ support system she has is so inviting and warm and I loved each relationship formed along the way. I also usually have such an issue with the slow burn but I found myself just loving the story – did I want them to get it on? DUH. But I wasn’t chomping at the bit for it like I normally am. And as always, a shout out to the friggin’ narrator! Patti Murin was WONDERFUL to listen to. Y’all the narrator can make or break a book. I once had a book I was DYING to listen to and it was like Shrek was telling me to get out of his swamp and it’s just not how I like to be seduced! Overall, a big fan of this book and the writing style. Hi again! I wanted to introduce you to my face while telling you my first ever favorite book. My 7th grade English teacher was one of the best humans I ever met. She read this story to us and I fell in love. With the story, with getting lost in another world. Especially one with a fierce female main character. A few things about me: For as long as I can remember I have been reading and writing stories. I mostly choose to live in a daydream of what ifs. This is the first book in the Cityscape Affair series and he last few chapters had me BLUSHING at my desk. I have read a lot of spice but the slow burn of this mixed with the obvious danger zone of an affair had me sweating 😅! Our FMC is Olivia who is a driven woman working in the magazine business which was a dream job for me back in the day so I loved putting myself into her shoes. David is our handsome, successful MMC that seems to be able to flip my stomach by saying the most basic things. And we of course have to introduce you to Bill who is her husband – who I want to like so much but honestly, the fact that she doesn’t seem to be able to be herself around him gives me the ick! I also want to say, as someone who mostly has their books read to them, the narrator is SO important and @offmicandi NAILS it. The prettiest books I own. 🥲🥹 you guys - I got these back in oregon and I thought to myself “I can’t wait to have kids and read these books to them…” Then I had kids. And I’m not going to lie - I do not let them touch these books 🤣 I will HAPPILY read it to them but have you met toddlers? They wake up sticky. It’s amazing. So, I hide them in my room.
