AU Ash giving his AU hat to a mankey and then getting the OG Hat from his mom a little later feels oddly significant. Are they trying to pull AU Ash into canon somehow? Are they going to keep using AU Ash for movies? Or was it just a nice nod at the end of an era?

It’s early still. But I think I’m able to admit now that I am going to be okay with Ash leaving. The goodbye is going to be so rough and I’m not there yet. But he’s honestly progressed as a character past the point where he still fits comfortably in the children’s anime genre. It’s been obvious they weren’t entirely sure what to do with him outside of the PWC, so I am able to admit that retiring him really is the most respectful thing to do. I can be okay with that.
