Nope. Pikachu and Gary's animosity are just for each other. Umbreon is not involved.

I do plan for Umbreon and Pikachu to be friends tho. And it would be funny to see that Pikachu is besties with Umbreon but the moment Pikachu looks at Gary, Pikachu is like :|

And Gary is just smiling through it, trying to hold himself back. He doesn't want to tell Umbreon who they should be friends with, even if it's with the rat he babysitted (who was actually babysitting him.)

And Pikachu and Gary are yet again trying to get along because Umbreon is friends with Pikachu and Umbreon loves Gary so like they are trying to be somewhat civil, again.

I do want to preface that Umbreon is younger than Pikachu. Umbreon was an Eevee egg when they were first given to Gary on the first day of his journey, so Umbreon and Pikachu might have a sibling-ish dynamic.

I'm still fleshing it out actually. Tho I do love the thought of Pikachu underestimating Umbreon when they were still an Eevee. Visibly. And it made Gary and Eevee synch up to prove the rat wrong. Pikachu would be shocked that Eevee was able to body him in their first fight lol.

Trainer like pokemon. Pokemon like trainer.

No. They hated each other. They were enemies.

When him and Gary, who was babysitting the starters when he was not a trainer yet, were together in the lab they resolved to glare at each other until Gary or Pikachu left.

They tolerate each other now. By Kalos, they don't seethe at the sight of one another.

But they had beef.

Gary hated babysitting the rat. Pikachu hated the Oakling around.

Them being able to fight each other because of the rivalry in Kanto and Johto was the bonus and was a satisfying moment between the two of them. They didn't have to be polite and pretend to like each other in front of Professor Oak anymore.

(The beef Gary had with Ash was actually with Pikachu first lol. That's a joke but this is still somewhat true.)

I'll make a comic of this one of these days.

Update: Pikachu was the one in charge and the one babysitting Gary. Professor Oak lied so Gary wouldn't throw a fit.

Finally drew some ShigeRissa art! another one is pending (after I finish some sona designs.. there are so many left to do..( ꩜ ᯅ ꩜;) 

I absolutely adore this movie. Shizuku and Seiji are basically how Rissa and Shige's dynamic is. These two are us ((trust)).

Now I must redraw more scenes in this movie as ShigeRissa,, they're so cutesies,,

Also! it's funny to me how the cat in this movie is named Moon (among his many other names lol). Which fits Umbreon perfectly.
