Needed to take some time this beautiful Monday afternoon to reflect. A few weeks ago, one of my family’s dogs was killed and it’s been shifting back and forth between both the background and forefront of my mind. Saying goodbye to a friend is never easy. Especially, one you’ve known so long and had grown accustomed to seeing almost every day. His name is Doby (like adobe without the a). He was the happiest dog I ever had the pleasure of knowing. As shown in this shot, he seemed to always be smiling. True to his character and personality, he cheerfully greeted me every time I visited my grandparents and even though I didn’t spend as much time with him as I used to, he never ceased to shower me with love just about any opportunity he had. I will miss that unconditional love, never ending smile, and little mannerisms that made him so unique not only in my eyes but in the eyes of others who were blessed to know him. When his father, my original childhood fur buddy, Peluchin, passed away in 2012, I pondered in the scriptures and prayer for weeks asking if there was a chance that I might see my friend in the next life. I remember a pivotal moment in thought while reading about how Jesus told his disciples to not allow their hearts to be troubled but to be confident in God always. He said “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” I recall reading this and thinking if Jesus is preparing such a beautiful place for us when we transition from this life to the next, what place would be better suited to have a bunch of fur babies and other creation running around with us? Until then, I’ll miss you my dear friend and I will be praying that you will be waiting for me when it’s my time to enter Heaven; welcoming smile, warming embrace, supreme goofiness, and all. Just wanted to take a moment to wish my precious mother a very happy birthday! You are the most selfless, loving, caring person I know with a heart of gold that everyone who’s known you can clearly see.
