On Collaboration
While it can be challenging when collaborating with new teammates, it can also be infinitely valuable.Β
On the surface level, working with others is an ideal way to push you out of your comfort zone, something essential for true creative ideation. It can be a source for new modalities of thought, an introduction to concepts or methods you were previously unaware of, and in general, an opportunity to create something synergistically. Jumping in full-force with a new team is a guaranteed way to attack a problem with a perspective that you would be unable to do on your own. Accepting this shared perspective can lead to bigger and brighter outcomes.
But even deeper than the problem itself is the secondary result of collaborating as a part of a team. During these times, be they stressful, jubilant, or just plain focused, there is always a silver lining. By sharing this experience with others, you build a bond that is unique to you and your teammates. This cannot be taken away, and it cannot be repeated. If this bond is strong enough, itβs likely that youβll want to collaborate again. The new team wonβt feel so new anymore, and things might be even smoother the second time around. Soon, the way you work together will influence your own individual processes in the work you do yourself. This is the biggest reward collaborative teamwork can give you. If you build a strong enough bond, it may just stay for life.
