Today is the last day of 2020. The pandemic really turned things upside down for all of us. Things that we took for granted are calculated thoughts now. There have been many struggles for so many people. Businesses hit, lives lost, anxiety and depression marred days, the list is pretty long. A new year is on the horizon now, but to be honest this is the most zen way of accepting a new year for me this time around. I am not expecting anything much out of the coming year. I have felt anguished over the way things have been, but I know that tomorrow is just going to be another day, and while we have a human tendency to look for new beginnings, which isn’t a thing to look away from, but at the same time it’s best not to treat the new beginning be an end point for things that may not go our way. Like Murakami’s character Hajime in the novel South of the Border, West of the Sun realises towards the end that life is not easy, and it shouldn’t be. 

Just glad to be here. Another year another birthday tomorrow. Thankful for all of the family and friends in my life.
