Trolling my biologist D&D player by sending the party on a quest to prevent the destruction of a mystical seal, and when they finally get there it quickly becomes clear that I'm actually describing a walrus.

Vinyl records are circular because it's an efficient use of space: the grooves that encode the music are laid out in a spiral on the disc, so that the needle only has to move as far as the disc's radius to read the entire thing. Before this clever idea was thought of, the grooves were instead laid out in a straight line, and every LP was a narrow rectangle more than a thousand feet long. To flip an album to side b at least two people were needed, one at each end, coordinating via shouted instructions.

um OMG!!!!! I bought from an antique store a pretty lamp and well you'd never guess but! the lamp had a Genie in it WOW ok I didn't know that would happen. that's so cool. three wishes like normal right? ok genie for my first wish ummmmm. AH it's so hard to choose. ok my first wish is to gain the ability permanently to summon a perfect 1:1 scale recreation of my body in wet clay. and the second wish is for a reeeaaaally big kiln. mhmm. and my third wish is a sledgehammer.

i was like 'what could jorts it possibly mean' but as with many things clicking the original post immediately clarified the situation

idk i would personally rather give up access to certain products seasonally or locally than have people enslaved to give me the ability to have any product any place any time. i think i can go without tomatoes in january.

i truly do think that most people if confronted with it and pressed on it would agree. but it's comfortable to gain privileges from someone else's suffering, especially if you don't have to see that suffering directly.
