Welcome to Holy Wood: The Joys of Palo Santo (pt.1)
If youβre new to The incense Box, you may have assumed that weβve always included Palo Santo sticks in each box. The truth is that it never dawned on me until a few months later while visiting a friendβs house. When I walked inside, I couldnβt believe the sweet aroma that I was smelling. From that moment, I just knew that we had to find a way for you to experience this aroma too β Iβm glad we did!
I'm sure you've already realized this but Palo Santo is one of the most aromatic wood incense around. With its name actually meaning βHoly Woodβ, Palo Santo has been used for centuries in South America as a healing tool for religious ceremonies. The wood is derived from the Bursera graveolens tree and isharvested anywhere from 4 to 10 years AFTER the tree and its branches have naturally fallen in the wild. In fact, itβs this aging process that gives the wood its sweet and earthy aroma. I like to call it the red wine of the jungle; since the longer it sits, the better it smells. How do you like Palo Santo so far? Does it smell as good to you as it did for me when I first entered my friend's house? :) Next week, Iβll share with you its many benefits and how you can use it; in addition to burning it. -Kael
