because sometimes... it really IS that SIMPLE.
Reminder: Youāre allowed to healĀ softly.
Not every day has to be a breakthrough. Some days, healing looks like: ā Drinking your coffee or tea before it gets cold š Re-reading the book you already love šø Taking a showerĀ justĀ because it feels good 𧦠Matching your socks (or notāno pressure)
Youāre still growing. Still blooming. Even when itās slow. Even when itās quiet.
š± Hereās to gentle mornings and loud laughter returning in their own time.
āA warrior in healing. This was me, mid-battleābald, bruised, and still smiling.ā
I was 25 when I was diagnosed with cervical cancer caused by HPV. Within days, I was told Iād need a hysterectomy. I had to meet with a fertility doctor to discuss options I couldnāt affordā all while trying to process a future I didnāt choose.
That was just the beginning.
Since then, Iāve faced:
Two recurrences
An ileostomy, colostomy, and nephrostomy
A breast cancer scare
A life saving blood transfusion that led to an HIV test
Multiple organ complications from chemo
And the moment I had to sign over temporary guardianship of my son
But Iām still here.
In remission. Still healing. Still fighting for every tomorrow.
This is why I startedĀ The Healing Chapterāto tell the truth out loud. To speak on HPV, cancer, motherhood, and what it means to survive a system that nearly broke me.
If even one person feels seen because I shared this, itās worth it.

⨠New Post: What Cancer Taught Me About Silence, Systems, and Survival
One virus. Zero accountability. A lifetime of impact.
I didnāt just survive cervical cancerāI survived a system that failed to protect me, failed to warn me, and still fails so many others. This isn't just my storyāit's a warning, a wake-up call, and a rallying cry for change.
Itās about HPV. Itās about healthcare. Itās about who gets left behindāand who pays the price.
This is what happens when we stay silent. This is what happens when we donāt fund research. This is what happens when women like me are told to āwait and watch.ā
š£ If youāve ever felt failed by the system, this oneās for you.

āI lost my hair, my uterus, and my careerābut not my future.ā This is my story, in my own handwriting. A survivorās journal, carved from the messy middleā for anyone still figuring it out. š±

š„ 4 Years on the Mat
Today marksĀ four years since I stepped onto the matĀ for the first timeāfaceplanted during warmupsāand somehow still came back for more.
I started jiujitsu because I watched it build confidence in my son. I stayed because it gave me something I didnāt know I needed.
Itās not just a workout. Not just a skill. Not just a community.
Itās where I remembered what my body could do. Where I stopped feeling like a science experiment. Where I wasnāt treated like I might breakā even when I felt like I already had.
Jiujitsu humbles you. Heals you. Sometimes bruises your ego and your elbows. But it gives you back pieces of yourself you didnāt even realize were missing.
So today, Iām honoring four years of rolling, rebuilding, reclaiming.
Iām not where I started. And Iām not done yet.
šĀ Itās not just a mat. Itās where I get my power back. š āAshli

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is protect your peace.
This started as a 5 a.m. reflectionācoffee reheated, hoodie on, mind humming like a radio loop.
Iāve been through cancer, trauma, ADHD, and raising a son while learning to advocate for myself in spaces that werenāt built for me.
Iāve sat in āhealing circlesā that felt more like pyramids. Been in rooms where silence was used to control instead of comfort.
But hereās what I know now: š Peace is powerful. ā Power should never come at peaceās expense.
I wrote about this in my latest piece, āPeace, Power & Low Taper Fades.ā Itās a love letter to healing, advocacy, and the quiet revolutions we carry within us.
A 5am reflection from a single mom with ADHDāon parenting, power, empathy, and the difference between real connection and curated ones. Beca
THE HEALING CHAPTER // a new beginning
Today Iām opening a new chapterāliterally and figuratively.
Itās calledĀ The Healing Chapter.
Itās not a scrapbook of my past. Itās a public diary for whatāsĀ next. The messy, brave, ongoing story of what it looks like to heal while still moving forward.
Iām a cervical cancer survivor. A single mom. A woman from Oklahoma whoās beat the odds more than once:
ā I left a toxic relationship. ā Got my GED. ā Turned a passion into a career. ā Started college. ā Chose divorceĀ during cancer treatment. ā And Iām still here, still fighting, still hoping.
This space isnāt about perfection or performance. Itās aboutĀ grit,Ā grace, and the in-between.
Iāll be sharing moments from this new season of life: Going back to college. Navigating healing. Learning how to live againāwith scars, with strength, and with an open heart.
I donāt know exactly where itāll go⦠But I do know this:
Even in the darkest chapters, there is a path forward.
š Follow along. Say hello. Walk with me.
With love and strength, Ashli
