THE FILM IS ALMOST HERE

I would like to apologize for stopping my updates on the film! I was focused on finishing the film itself and I lost the feeling of needing to update people on it, plus the updates weren’t super interesting anyway - a lot of it was things like “I changed this minute animation problem no one else would have noticed” - and that’s been my main thing the last few months. Making this film amazing, and now it is PERFECT.

I can’t wait to show everyone. Thank you to all the people who have followed my progress, I’m so excited for the world to see The Glass.

Here’s a little video clip of the shot I’m working on this week! I’m actually working on about twelve shots at the same time because they’re all in a group with this one, but I’m focusing today on this one shot. :)

Here’s the current shot that I’m rendering! It’s the improved version of the shot where Atlas leaves the crystal cave in his ship. Look at the render time so far up to the current frame: that’s 15 hours for not even a full 22 frames. Haha this computer (his name is Lucas) is very slow, but I’m rendering these frames in pieces, while I sleep and while I’m at work.

The next chunk of shots should go quickly because once I fix the texture in one, it’s just drag-and-drop to copy the texture to the other shots!

I’ve just updated the film with some newly rendered shots :)

I’m getting closer and closer to finishing this thing and showing you all my film! I’m so excited for it and I’m so happy I’ve got so many people following the progress of my animation :) I can’t wait to release it.

Once this one is done you bet your butt I’m going to be making more films. I’ve already got four more films planned for the immediate/very near future and I have been writing scripts and gathering props for those. One of them is going to be live action with some neat VFX, if I can pull it off. :D

I’ve been adding some acronyms to my shotlist so I can correct some things in the last section of the film!

TODAY at the Peoria Riverfront Museum in Peoria, Illinois, my short film, THE GLASS, is being screened!! It’s being shown in the IMAX theater at 10:30, 1:00, and 3:15! If you’re around I’d love it if you came!

I have updates!!

First: I’ve changed the title for the credits! It’s a different font (a free one I like better, though it’s very similar to the last one I used) and I made the colors much more vibrant now. #hearteyes, oh my gosh.

The second image is my shotlist as it looks now. The legend is cropped out because my computer monitor is too small to show the whole thing, haha, but the darkest green are things that need fixing, the lightest green are things that were finished already/things I am not changing, and the slightly darker middle green is stuff I’ve already fixed and put back into the film in Premiere. The teal/blue on the right-side colored column is post stuff I need to fix. Yellow is ready to render, orange is currently rendering. :)

And the third image is a current test render I’m doing for shot V, which I didn’t like because of how the ship moved and because I had the camera straight on to the cave opening.

The film is finished!! Only for what I’m turning in for the class today, actually. I plan on reworking a lot of the film to make some little fixes before I show it to the rest of the world. :) But stay tuned! It’s almost there! 8D

I’m working on the last scene of the film! Here’s a low-res render from one of the last five shots in the film!! It’s nearly done! :D

This last week/weekend has been Thanksgiving break so I’ve been able to get a lot done on the film! I fixed a ton of problems/things I didn’t like about previous shots I had done and I was able to get a few new things animated too! I’ve only got a few shots left before the film is done!

These are four shots I worked on over the break. The top image is a still from the film, and the next three images are low-res shots from things I fixed this week. The camera position is different for the final versions of these. :)

I’m so excited that this is nearly finished!!!

Here’s a pixelly still from the animated clip I finished today! This shot and two others I redid are rendering at the school now. I just have a handful of shots left to do!! :D I’m so excited to show this film to everyone very super soon! Get excited!!

I finished animating this shot this week and have started on the next two, which are actually just a continuation of this shot. A little over three weeks and this will be done!

Here’s another shot from what I’ve been working on this weekend! I’ve only got a few more shots to animate. This one is the most complex and heavy scene I’ve had to animate so far, and it’s so close to the end of the film.
