Chester Wood

Listening to him, Magnus questioned if he would be willing to order what this person might be looking for. “I might have something that can help you.” He spoke, moving towards his back office before reemerging to the counter. “Usually we don’t just order from these catalogs randomly, but we might be able to make something work if you find something in it you like.” He offered, knowing the importance of good customer service. 

Chester was aware that their tastes didn’t conform with the expected or what most would consider the ‘norm’ but that’s part of what they liked about it. If a pattern stuck out to them, they didn’t care whether it had gender connotations because that meant very little to Chester. They could pull off anything in their not so modest opinion. “Thanks.” Chester murmured, taking the book and skimming through it curiously. “I mean, things like this for instance.”

Hearing the question, Magnus nodded his head from side to side before responding. “It would depend on who is selling it.” He told him. “However, if you did order one from online, we could always tailor it to make sure it fits properly. But you probably won’t find the quality suits we have here. Possibly, we could see if the designs have different,” He paused a little. “Designs, that you might be looking for.” 

“I can bring you examples so you can get an idea. Do you have like... a book of possibilities too?” Because Chester wouldn’t be adverse to looking through them and deciding from that. “Things just lack so much color sometimes. I guess that’s why I like working with plants.”

While Magnus usually stuck to plain colors, he knew that his market might want something more. “I do have some different colors in the shop, but I don’t know about pastels. But we have some maroons, purples, and some colors that might interest you.” 

“Ooo! Now purple sounds interesting.” Chester spoke brightly, seeming to hop on the spot. “Though if I find something online that I like, do you think you could get something similar?” They found themselves asking. 

Boring? What was it with people in this town having some sort of aversion towards the idea of having a nice suit. “And what are you looking for with the idea of more pizzazz?” 

“I like patterns and color. Pastels and brightness. Anything that isn’t completely black or dark or... this...” Chester pulled out a suit that was a brown color, the look on their face making it clear they disliked it. “I mean, a store this size must have at least one thing that fits that wide criteria. Right?”

“Oh, don’t worry, sweetie.” She chuckled, hearing the little joke, as she placed the black covering around the other’s neck, to fully protect their clothes from getting any product on it. “You can always trust your beautiful brown locks in my salon. Call it magic if you want, but I can promise you will not just like it, you’ll love your hair when you walk out of these doors or you get a full refund.” She assured with a wink.

Chester attempted to make themselves comfortable in the seat, eyes following the others actions. “I’d hope so. I’m pretty proud of how well I take care of it but I mean... it can quite easily look a mess... get knotted and stuff... I blame the fact it is so curly.” They blew a strand up from their face.

“Well then it’s safe to assume this won’t be our last encounter?” he asked with a brief sigh, not sure how well he’d take another conversation with the other, but open to approach a new conversation with a different mindset another day.

“Nope, probably not. I tend to pop here and there. Usually when people least expect it.” Chest confessed, smirking at the sigh that seemed to leave the other male.

“You love to flatter yourself, don’t you?” she picked up with a slight chuckle.

“Eh... only when I know things to be true.” Chester answered with a grin. “I do have some talents. I’d never say I was good at everything though.”

“Depends on the kind of relationship you and this other person have,” Aurora argued. “Smothering relationships can be very toxic.”

“Perhaps but again, It’s not the word that has the negative connotation so much as the way it’s used.”

“Lucky you have me then my sweets.” she grinned widely as she linked arms with the other. “Shall we go inside and get this party started.” she chuckled softly to herself as she glanced towards the door. “Maybe we can pop a bottle of red and watch some sad movies together as well, make it a real party.”

Chester was never going to turn down an opportunity to pamper themselves. In fact, it was clear from the way they appeared to rock on their heels to the balls of their feet that they were looking forward to it. “It’s like you have picked my perfect day; well minus the shopping for clothes too.”

“I’m quite clumsy,” Pietro explained, “Perhaps those lucky cats could help with that,” He nodded in agreement, “They do look pretty cheerful.”

“I would have thought working with them, their luck might rub off on you.” Chester answered with a shrug because he was working around them all the time. “They do though. I don’t know; there is just something very optimistic about them that I enjoy.”

“We ‘tend’ to them or like I said earlier ‘give them a lot of attention’. Smother’s a little too graphic and comes off a little negative, wouldn’t you say? Like an overbearing grandmother or something,” she pointed out. “I fear that only a proper end to it all will really open their eyes. I hope I’m wrong and they get their shit into gear sooner than later. We don’t have much time.”

“Maybe. I mean, smother is only a negative verb when taken that way. It’s all about interpretation in my opinion.” Chester chatted, a smile on their face. “I mean, you smother people in love and that can’t be a bad thing really.”

“Well I certainly don’t just throw compliments around,” Darcy agreed. “Perhaps you have a point there.”

“See; as I was suggesting, I always have a good point.” Chester commented with a grin.

“I’m only slightly more fun to talk to off duty,” Nick replied with a vague chuckle.

“Well I should be the judge of that. People can be very hard on themselves after all.”

“I mean I don’t think I’d use the term ‘smother’ but we do give the gardens a lot of attention,” Aurora replied. “Perhaps. But I’m also sure she appreciates that there’s people like us out there that still care about her so much, you know? This generation is pretty damn selfish so I’d argue it’s rare to find people who care about the environment like we do.”

“What term would you use, hm?” Chester asked, tilting their head to look at the girl. “Unfortunately the world has become rather complacent. One day it isn’t going to be here for them and they are going to regret it.”
