“I feel like every year I forget how much work can go into picking a Halloween costume. Except for those lucky years where you just know, but how often does that really happen, right?” She commented. “Have you figured out what you’ll be? Or are you one of those who opts out of the fun?”

“Actually funny you bring that up,” Aurora smiled, moving to sit across from the other comfortably. “Do you wanna do like a team type of costume with you, me and my other aunties?” she suggested. “Not too sure what we could go for yet, but collaborated costumes are always fun.”

“I don’t understand how people can just let their children run around like that. I understand they want to be their friends, but they’re not. They are their parents, so someone should start acting like it.” While he knew nothing about raising children, he also knew that you couldn’t just let them run wild. There was still standards that needed to be kept. 

“Yeah like I get the friend thing and all that, but as you’re saying– at the end of the day they’re their parents. They shouldn’t have children if they aren’t prepared to fill those shoes,” Aurora sighed. “Like if you want to be around kids without the responsibilities of a parent, perhaps they should pursue a career in daycare or something instead.”

“Well, you obviously have never had to do the most tragic things such as evicting one from their house otherwise you may know that there is loads of paperwork that one must fill out to attain certain accommodations that they must fulfill on their own. Meaning, in easier terms for you, ‘I can’t help them’. They have to take it up with a whole different department.” Myranda now was getting very upset, not at all liking how this blonde was downright discrediting her as the mayor of Talle. “Good for you then! If you find that person, be sure to let me know so I can give them the application myself. But, until then…” She took the megaphone back from the assistant and turned it on, making her voice loud and clear. “Stay out of your mayor’s way!”

Despite the brunette’s rather intimidating threat, Aurora simply felt the smirk on her lips grow. Something about pushing the other’s buttons was amusing to her. “Stay out of your way? I dunno– can’t make any promises. It’s so much fun being in it.”

“Certainly not what you were talking about anyway,” Arabella said, “I doubt we have the same interests anyway.”

“Wait, you want to be my date? Why would you want to do that? You don’t even really like me,” Phillip said, “I mean I’d definitely owe you one. This would be a huge favor.”

“You do realize this is a high class space, right?” He questioned, harsh judgement in his tone. “If you’re going to act like that, you will have to leave.” Eyes looked over the person, frustration increasing with how they were acting in such a place. 

“As cute as they are, they’re definitely starting to get a little annoying,” Aurora admitted after he told off a group of children that had been making a lot of noise. “Where the hell are their parents? Shouldn’t they be somewhere nearby, discipling them?”

“I actually like being here but unfortunately, if I’m being completely honest, I’m not fully interested in what you’re saying.”

“I…” Phillip paused and thought about it with a furrowed brow, “I never thought of that. I suppose he wouldn’t do anything,” He pursed his lips, “But I can’t think of anyone who would agree that he would approve of. Can you?” He knew that she would be familiar with the kind of people from well-off families because she was from one herself.

“Well, it sure sounds like it.” Myranda snapped right back, not liking the blonde’s tone. “And in fact, it does. After all, you are intruding on city matters.” Myranda’s tone softened just a bit out of pity as she explained the situation a bit more clearer. “And as well as you may want to worry about this person’s mortgage, like any normal human being, I can assure you it’s nothing against them. This is their sixteenth time not paying.” However she did not like the last sentence that fell out of the sassy up tight blonde’s mouth. “Ha, if you can find someone to take better care of this town, by all means let me know. Talle wouldn’t survive two seconds without me stirring the wheel.”

“So, what? You’re just going to let them live on the streets? Not give them any alternatives to paying the mortgage off?” she asked her with a furrowed brow. At the following words coming from the mayor, Aurora let out a laugh. One that sounded much more like a scoff. “Do you seriously believe nobody could do a better job than you? That’s incredibly pompous of you to assume that there isn’t anybody else in the town that has the potential to do better. Because I’m confident there is.”

“They have different colors here, so we could get a few to put in the shop.” She commented, nodding her head a bit. “Yes! So glad you agree cause I was about two seconds from just ordering some because I just wanted them.” 

“Agreed. And they’d just look wonderful around the gardens as well,” Aurora nodded. “Oh stop! You should get some just for yourself as well. They brighten up any household really.”

“Hm, they have some roses in the back that are blooming beautifully this year.” She replied, looking back towards the bunch. “Although, I also think we should add some of those sunflowers. Can you imagine those growing in the front of the store?” 

“Roses are classic,” she agreed. “Sunflowers? I couldn’t agree more! Especially since they’re perfect for the autumnal season.”

“How would you know?” Phillip asked and then shook his head, “I’m sure she’s lovely but whenever my father tries to set me off with someone, she’s always overly keen which makes her appear not genuine to me or she has no interest because she’s been forced to meet me as much as I’ve been forced to meet her. I need just one week and one family event without having to be forced to meet another woman he’s pulled out from some rich family I’ve somehow never heard of. My father doesn’t seem to get that I’d rather find someone on my own in my own time and what family she comes from doesn’t really matter to me.”

“I don’t actually have anywhere to be.”

“Yes, yes, that’s very impressive,” Arabella said, nodding and then glancing toward the door, “Please tell me more.”

“It’s been a while since I had the time off to come visit,” Megan said, laughing softly as she leaned against the wall, her hands crossed over her chest. The shirt she was in revealed a lot of cleavage, and it just increased with her stance. “Same old. What about you? Have anything exciting to tell me?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. 

Aurora knew what the other was doing and she wasn’t going to protest. Allowing her gaze to linger down, she glanced long enough for Megan to notice, before trailing her eyes back up to the brunette’s lips. “Same old, same old for me too I guess,” she shrugged, directing her eyes back to Megan’s. “I mean the other day Charmant came through. Something about avoiding his father,” she shrugged. “Other than that, same old.”

“Can’t I just be enjoying a nice walk in the botanical gardens?” Phillip asked and then sighed after a moment, “I’m evading my father. He tried to bring a woman he wants to set me up with into the office during my lunch break so I snuck out the back.”
