you can also learn through osmosis by following disabled people on social media, preferably those with dynamic disabilities (which means their abilities fluctuate) as they may use more than one mobility aid!
and even if you yourself use a mobility aid, it's still good to get as large of a data set as possible! for example, i use wrist & knee braces for arthritis, but i follow people online who use:
-power & manual wheelchairs (EDS, myalgic encephalitis / chronic fatigue, long covid, MCAS, POTS, paralysis, Nutcracker Syndrome, spinal cord injuries, Maffauci Syndrome, small fiber neuropathy, fibromyalgia, dysautonomia, adenomyosis, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, generalized dystonia, and more!)
-forearm crutches, also known as "Canadian crutches" (EDS, myalgic encephalitis / chronic fatigue, long covid, skeleto-muscular injuries, POTS, and more!)
-rollators & "standard" walkers (EDS, myalgic encephalitis / chronic fatigue, long covid, POTS, Maffauci Syndrome, fibromyalgia, ankylosing spondylitis, arthritis [including axial spondyloarthritis], and more!)
-canes (EDS, myalgic encephalitis / chronic fatigue, long covid, skeleto-muscular injuries, POTS, and more!)
-compression garments (POTS, dysautonomia, arthritis, skeleto-muscular injuries, and more!)
-leg braces (Maffauci Syndrome, skeleto-muscular injuries, and more!)
-hearing aids & cochlear implants (D/deaf & HOH)
-white canes (blindness & partial to complete vision loss)
-ostomy bag (paralysis, EDS, and more!)
i could go on and on lol but find some disabled creators to follow! you'll learn a lot!
