I have the strength to dance

I can go on walks and hikes for miles through the wilderness without feeling weak or faint

I can jump for joy and dance around my room

I'm not confined to my bed-I can cook and clean and stand for long periods of time, I can open doors without help

I don't bruise just by being touched anymore!

My hair is longer and thicker and so much healthier, it's finally growing rather than falling out

My cheeks have their natural blush back and the bags under my eyes aren't permanent anymore

I can have conversations about things that aren't food or my ED

I can think about things that aren't food or my ED

I can draw, paint, sew, knit, embroider, sing, dance, write-and i have the ability to care about those things again, to want to do them

I can pick up my little brother and dance around with him

Yes, I feel insecure, I struggle with body image, I still sometimes cry after looking in the mirror because of how I see myself. But I don't act on those thoughts anymore.

But I would actually be fine being stuck in a luxurious 20 million dollar mansion with a large pool, a tennis court and an elaborate garden maze for months on end.

The year is 1995, congress member Bernie Sanders stands in opposition of a homophobic statement said by Duke Cunningham. Cunningham derisively refers to “homos in the military” to support his argument while (strangely) discussing the Clean Water Act. Sanders, having none of it, quickly rises to the defense of thousands of men and women everywhere. Sanders ire is such that he repeatedly disrespects the Chairman by speaking over him in order to say his piece. [Video Source]

What does this say for Sanders? Well, that’s for you to decide. But to me, it says that for 20+ years strong he has shown his public support for LGBT+ persons everywhere, even in the face of ridicule and disrespect. Unlike some, Sanders has always been vocal about his beliefs concerning the LGBT+ community, and he has always held them. Key word always, and not just when doing so might garner him support for his campaigns.
