Have you heard about Gracie the giraffe? She escaped from a Texas ranch (she's since been found, fat and happy), and I was reminded of Pampe when I heard about her method of escape.

I liked learning about this giraffe 😊#technically her escape was more impressive - she was at large for 2 weeks which is considerably beyond Pampe's personal record!#which is 3 days and 7 kilometres away #but Pampe is a French camelid and therefore considers freedom a philosophical condition not subject to vulgar quantification

My mum has to drive over the Millau viaduct every time she visits me, and the other day I was in the car with her and said we should stop to take a picture, and she said, Must we. And I said, Come on! it’s the tallest bridge in the world. And she just wouldn’t believe me. It’s too familiar to be special… She was like, surely the tallest bridge in the world would be somewhere else. Not between my house and yours.

#we crossed it today and my mum asked me to check if it was still the tallest bridge in the world #i confirmed that we still hold the title #i also found that one of the pillars is taller than the eiffel tower and she was again incredulous

Update: Pan's friendliness and optimism survived contact with reality!

After making his point a second time, the hedgehog decided he had reached the limits of pedagogy and returned to the woods.
