there is a very real tendency of teenagers with anxiety disorders self diagnosing with considerably more stigmatized and impairing mental illnesses (e.g. schizophrenia, DID, personality disorders), but the best response to that isn't to get angry with them for "appropriating" lol. instead you show them coping resources for the problems they're actually having and deemphasize diagnostic categories in general. if an 18 year old is claiming to have alzheimer's, they're probably making an innocent mistake and are in genuine distress. be kind.
Also I think this trend comes, at least in part, from how brushed aside anxiety disorders can be. If your parents and teachers dismiss you with 'oh everyone feels anxious', then inevitably you're going to start thinking that there must be something else going on with you
âYou must feel very scared right now; letâs talk about how to help you personally, tailored to your symptomsâ will always be more helpful than âstop faking (X) for attentionâ. If theyre that desperate for attention or an explanation, something is wrong.
Not to mention how anxiety has become more of a joke in society than anything and referencing it casually like âliterally having an anxiety attack rnâ in conversation and on social media
I think if everybody just vibed to that donât worry be happy song once a day the world would be a much less violent place

I do not usually make posts like this but recently I have seen a lot of content on Instagram, Twitter and I think tiktok too misunderstanding the meaning of intrusive thoughts, which may cause people experiencing them to be upset.
I have tried to shortly explain the difference of impulsive and intrusive and hope it will help people to understand and use the words correctly.

Examples of actual intrusive thoughts include, but are not limited to:
Driving your car off a cliff purposely
Stabbing yourself
Crashing your car purposely
Shooting yourself in the foot
Shooting a friend
Raping a friend or family member
Killing someone
Hurting someone
Hurting yourself for no reason
These do not make you a bad person on principle. Sometimes people think things that they normally wouldnât, and then they think âwtf brain noâ

I have not been on this site in forever but I read a Dean x reader fic like FOREVER ago and I cannot find it for the life of me. I think the first word of it was like dear something. Tumblrâs at it again, thanks to the new European Privacy Laws. Thereâs probably nobody who will read this, but it pissed me off so much that I decided to make a post about it. (Ignore the weird language mish-mash, depending on your country the language might differ.)
OK, so many of us get this screen when we try to access our dash:
Realise how the âOKâ button is a nice, attention-grabbing blue? If youâre like me, youâre not exactly into reading a 100 pages document and tend to just click it.
My tip? DONT. Instead click on âManage Optionsâ right next to it:

Still pretty harmless, right? That âAcceptâ button is looking really attractive right now. Instead, click on Verwalten (Probably something like âManage Optionsâ or something in english) and youâll get to this page:
Now thatâs not too bad, right? I just switched all the buttons to âoffâ, because Iâm jealously guarding my personal information and donât want Tumblr to go off and do who knows what with it. Looks like weâre done! But wait: Thereâs a SHOW option.
When we click on that one, what we will get is this:
A HUGE list with OVER 300 ENTRIES of companies that can use your data by default if youâd just clicked âOKâ on that very first page. Coincidence that this list is hidden that much? Me thinks not. Theyâre all switched on by default, but I am still a petty bitch that doesnât want to give out her data, so I switched them all off. All 300+ of them. There is no option to switch them all off at once, and even if you disable all the options above, the companies are still switched on.
(If you wonder how i got that number, I copied the list into excel and looked at the cell number. No way am I actually counting all those entries)

You can disable them when you go to Settings > Privacy > Update Privacy Consent
Itâs also EXTREMELY convenient that NONE of the privacy settings work on the app, at least not on Android.

So Iâve started a GFM for the outstanding bills going towards fixing a completely rotten tooth and reducing my chances of further complications ($3000 for ER, approximately $3000 for extractions). Unfortunately, Iâm uninsured and I do not have the money for paying them up front like they require. And so I reach out to you, tumblr, to pass this along and help me fix my face.
